So, not only do they help your body prepare for a nice rest, you won't feel too full or uncomfortable eating these kinds of carbs before bed.

With a high concentration of tryptophan, an amino acid that increases serotonin levels, eating a little lean protein before bed can help you to sleep like a baby. Serotonin is naturally produced by the body when you are preparing to sleep. Watching television or playing on your phone before bed can stop the body from producing serotonin and keep you awake. The lights on these devices is what triggers the brain to stop producing serotonin. So, instead of turning on the television, grab a bit of lean protein instead.

A mixture of two factors make this work. First, the calcium helps the body to relax. Potassium and magnesium also found in milk farther helps the body to relax. The other factor here is the ritual itself. Preparing a glass of warm milk can bring back a feeling of security and get rid of worries like when you were a child.

8.) Herbal teas. Chamomile and mint is a fantastic combination that helps the body to relax and fall asleep more quickly, deeply, and easily. Of the above list I'd go for the beer and the nuts. They go together well! emoticon
