Ginger is growing

My neighbor had planted 3 potted plants which had sprouted beautiful 3 tone color leaves. I was surprised when she told me it was ginger! Why not? I have a few young gingers which had started to show some young shoots. Hence, I took two pieces of young ginger with shoots and planted them into my freshly dug up soil mix with compost. I dug up 3 inch of soil at different spots but in the same flower pot. Put in the gingers into individual dug up holes and cover them up with the dug up soil. Make sure the ginger shoot and the surface of the ginger still visible at the surface. Sprinkled some water everyday. It took me 7 days to see the shoots started to shoot up slowly. I was very pleased to see the shoots turn into stems and then tiny leaves sprouting. They grew a few new stems and lots of 3 tones green leaves, extremely beautiful I must say!

Here's how urbanized I am. To me ginger is something you make ale out of. It never occurred to me that it's a plant that grows.

That is neat that you are growing that. I never thought about growing it. I should look into it.

I love the taste of ginger, I first had it in ginger biscuits but nowadays I use it in soups, curries, stews, even just as a hot drink. I would love to grow it but I think it takes lot of care in the temperate zone and we are quite Northerly.

I'm glad you had success in getting your cuttings to root and bud.

That is a pretty picture. Are those ginger flowers. I have had experience with ginger but have never seen the flowers.

Ginger is a great indoor plant, rather than outdoor plant. Ginger hates sunlight.
