A Trip to Banff National Park

We have just returned from a Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. It is one of our favorite destination, and we visit it as often as we can.

Established in 1885, Banff is Canada's first National Park. Its most known sites are the town of Banff and Lake Louise, but there is so much more to this park than that. High mountains, beautiful, pristine lakes in the clearest of turquoise blue and numerous rivers are just some of the things that make it worth wile to visit the park.

In addition, and maybe most importantly, you can always count on seeing wildlife somewhere in the park. Last time we visited, we even say a grizzly bear, a very rare sight, even here. This time we weren't that lucky, but we still saw a beautiful male deer, and a few bighorn sheep, in addition to the usual chipmunks, ground squirrels, and numerous types of birds.

We've hiked a lot on this trip, and were rewarded with some of the most beautiful views you can imagine. I know we will be back, maybe next year.

Have you ever visited Banff?

I have never been to Canada, but Banff sounds like an interesting place. We can't afford to travel at the moment, but I hope that we will be able to travel again in the future.

If you get a chance, it is definitely worth it. It can be done on a budget, too, that's the beauty of it. You still need to get there, but sometimes airfare is reasonable, and renting through VRBO is a better choice than staying at hotels, you can also make your own meals.... we had to travel on a budget this time, but still had a great time. We did mostly the hiking thing, which doesn't cost anything, other than the wear on your shoes ;). Hope you get to travel soon.
