Not A Pretty Picture

K and I are on our way back to eastern North Carolina after a whirlwind two day vacation in Pensacola. I drove the first leg of our trip from Pensacola to Jacksonville, Florida on I-10E, then around Jacksonville on I-295N, and picked up I-95N. We stopped for lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Kingsland, Georgia. After lunch, and a stop to top off Blu's gas tank, K took over the driving duties and we headed north on I-95 again.

We weren't very far when the cloud in the picture appeared up the highway in the direction we were going. K and I thought we were in for a rough patch of driving but got lucky. While we did hit some heavy rain for a short time most of the storm stayed west of the Interstate. Since then we've hit various sprinkles and light rain but, so far, nothing like that cloud promised to hit us with.

I'm SO tired of this summer's weather, I don't know WHAT to do!

The heat and storms are something but I'm grateful we've not had a full blown tropical storm or hurricane this summer.

I remember being stopped for road construction in southern Colorado 15 or so years ago. We got hit by the edge of one of those storm walls which quickly turn into bigger issues. The vehicles were rocking and you had to feel bad for the gal standing out there with the stop sign. She couldn't abandon her position to find some kind of break and had to stand there with her hard hat pointed into the wind. It was a good thing that the hail which hit us was brief and small.

East West Home is Best as they say. You must be now back home and good that you had no serious issues enroute.

It looks like you are taking a different route to get home. Will this driving be shorter in distance and get you back home quicker?

That would have been nice, but we'll be traveling that way again. Son1 will be there for at least another year. You hurry and get well.

It was good to be home. We both had the best night's sleep we've had in days. Ace and Ginger were so glad to see their people.

Oddly enough, it's a few miles longer in distance but a few minutes shorter in time. We are following my grandfather's advice to return by a different route than we went so we can see more of the country.

And we didn't have to go around Atlanta again. Jacksonville was a breeze.

That did look like it could be nasty. Glad you missed the worst of it

She did well to stick it out. Some might have dropped their sign and run for cover under those conditions.

Hope that you are safe.

We seemed to stay just on the edge of the storms we saw. This was the first of many but they all moved either west or east of us.

We made it home, tired but safe.
