Ice Cream Castles in the Air

In Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides, Now," she sang, "Rows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air, and feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way..."

That is nearly exactly what I love about the cloud formations I saw this evening.

These photographs were taken about 9 p.m. on my way home. I stopped on the highway several times to take photos with my cell phone camera. (As I only have the Samsung Galaxy S2, they are not as good as some of the other photographs that some share with the newer cameras.)

About an hour earlier and about 12 miles away, I took several other cloud photographs. Here are a few I would like to share:

Then a few minutes later, as I was coming into the main gate of the Naval base, where I live, I was greeted by this view of the moon.

I wish that everyone could experience firsthand the beautiful place that I call "home," in Washington state. These photographs do not do it justice.

They are stunning photos. Thank you for sharing them. I like watching the clouds too.

Thank you, HappyLady ! I really loved tonight's sky.

I bet these pictures don't do justice. I would move west to Washington state. If I had the money and if I had my kids. Or if they were completely grown. I have seen many pictures of Washington. And right above you in Canada is also beautiful.

inertia4 Well, if you hurry, you can meet me when you move here. emoticon :winking: And, yes, the west coast of Canada is also very beautiful.

Oh, great. I post this reply to you, inertia4 , and then I get a talking condom commercial, followed by a pretty feet talking commercial??? WTH????

inertia4 wrote on July 20, 2015, 7:38 AM

I wish. Really. But right now it's not in the cards for me. Maybe one day I will go there to live.

Lovely photographs. I regret that if I took cloud photographs at the minute, the picture would be a unremitting dull grey everywhere!

CoralLevang wrote on July 20, 2015, 8:30 AM

MegL That might be also what you get nine months out of the year from me!

PriscillaKing wrote on July 20, 2015, 12:22 PM

Yes, Washington and B.C. are beautiful. (I like my own home though.)

CoralLevang wrote on July 20, 2015, 12:44 PM

You're on the east coast of the US, if I remember correctly, PriscillaKing ?

DWDavisRSL wrote on July 20, 2015, 2:28 PM

I was only stationed there nineteen months and your pictures still make me homesick for the area. While I love eastern NC, we don't have views like that around here.

CoralLevang wrote on July 20, 2015, 2:54 PM

DWDavisRSL It was incredible yesterday. I will take a picture of today's sky when I go out for a cup of coffee.

Excellent photos. You caught the sun's color behind the crowds as evening descended. White puffs just before the sun got behind. The moon is but a sliver.

Yes...currently in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, where there's a computer that can handle "Shockwave Flash."

Thank you, JohnRoberts . All I saw was a pretty sky and used the cell phone (old one) to try to capture what I saw to share.
