Started Watching a New Series Thanks to My Local Library

I do not watch a lot of television. In fact, I am thinking of cancelling the cable portion of the package I have with Internet and telephone.

A friend encouraged me to start watching series television that I can get through our library. He was the one that suggested "The Boardwalk Empire," which I finished a few weeks ago with its five seasons. I have also watched four seasons of "Downton Abbey," and look forward to the fifth, when I can get it through my library system.

He has suggested several others, and I started watching " Orange Is the New Black." I found the first season on the shelf.

As I have read, this season is based on the life of a woman who spent 15 months in prison after a conviction for smuggling drug money for a former girlfriend involved in an international drug ring.

I have watched the first seven episodes of the first season. I am enjoying the set-up of the story and the character development, thus far.

Dramatic and comedic, "Orange Is the New Black," is proving to be complex, just as life is complex for us all. I look forward to finishing this season, and checking out the other two seasons that are in the system. I will also look for the memoirs for the main character, upon which this series was written.

It's a good show. There are three seasons out so far if I am remembering correctly. I have the book as well, which was pretty good.

Yes, three season. They are finishing up their 4th season now, which should be released in 2016, from what I've read.

You might enjoy netflix. Many dvd players have wifi built in anymore and that is how we watch many of the series shows and a lot of movies now

I am going to look into it and see what I can come up with.

My husband likes watching BBC I-player. He says it has a great selection of documentaries. My daughter and her family all like Netflix.

These original series by HBO and Showtime are very good--I enjoyed True Blood and Spartacus, and I currently keep up with Game of Thrones.

AliCanary I shall look those up to see whether or not they appeal to me, too. Thanks!

I've heard good things about this show but have not watched more than the first episode. My wife and I are talking about cancelling our cable and using Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime instead for about 1/3 the cost of cable.

Great character development, absolute scads of sex and violence. Just so you know.

One of my old connections on the B was a recurring minor character on Orange is the New Black. I haven't heard from her in a while so don't know if she's still on the show.
