Journal 07-13-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Monday, July 13, 2015. The temperature is 69.0°F and the humidity is 76% at 8:47 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0 mph with gusts of 2.2 mph. It’s clear and the sun is warm. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 84° (“cooler than yesterday”) today.

Finally did get around to going to the gym yesterday. I thought after having been away for so long, I’d be struggling to do a half hour on the treadmill. No problem. However, this morning, I got on the elliptical and could only to 15 minutes on it. In the past, I’ve found it easier than the treadmill. I usually run the cardio program on both machines. Well, I’ll go back tomorrow and see how far I get. I figure as long as I get flailing away at it, at least I’m accomplishing something. I’ve never been what you would call and athlete, but I’d like be more active, with the idea of sticking around for a while longer. And maybe finishing a few more books—those that I’m reading and those that I’m writing. As well as I’d like to enjoy my marriage a bit longer. I waited until I was 55 to marry.

Well, that was dreadfully morbid.

I’ve started reading Stephen King’s “On Writing,” which I’ve found to be a pleasant surprise. More on that on lexiconlover ’s book challenge. Thing is, I don’t much like King’s books. He’s great at creating suspense, but I always find his endings to be letdowns.

It’s astounding how much and how quickly the price of gas has shot up in the past week. It had been about $3.20 or so a gallon. Now it’s nearly $4/gallon, even in the cheap places. They places where I go that has a car wash and discounts the price when you wash the cash is showing $4.09 with the car wash. YIKES. And more to come.

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy. Hope the day brings you good things.

Off to write another day—

Writing schedule (again):

1. Spend an hour with Siegfried.

2. Review a section of poetry from World Poetry .

3. Review Being Young either today or tomorrow

Our gas prices are pretty high too. Not as high as I've seen them in the last couple of years but still not as low either.

I think what gets me about this latest round is that they shot up almost a dollar within just a few days. This doesn't reflect the price of crude. Part of my suspicious my wants to yell, "Shake down!"

It's summer. Prices always go up during the summer.

Yes, but not like that.
