Good afternoon from the land of the free and the home of the brave. We spent the. Morning at the lake. We have deliberately avoided crowds because of the terror alerts. We are home now and will grill out later on. If the rain holds off. The pups are exhausted. They are lying on the floor in front of the air conditioner as we speak. It is not that hot outside but it is wet and muggy. The mosquitoes are treacherous. Today Americans celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which rolled the beginning of the American Revolution. Nashville has the most fireworks on display in the United States. The folks there are expecting a big crowd. Enjoy today and stay safe.

Hope you get some well-needed rain. I wish we had that relief in sight. I am heading out to visit friends soon. It's not quite 1 p.m. here on the west coast.

That was a good decision to stay away. You can always watch it on tv emoticon

I enjoyed the day in the water too but I was under water for about 40 minutes. I wrote about it, and now relaxing with the air conditioner on too. I'm not much for fireworks these days so I would rather stay in with my head phones on and listen to some music.

We stayed in too. Here in NC it was hot and muggy and the mosquitoes were horrible. We watched the Macy's 4th of July celebration. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

This is definitely the one holiday in the States that I miss the most since living in Thailand. I have so many memories of past Fourth of July celebrations.

Our community also puts on their display the day before or after the fourth so people can visit their families on the exact date. So Friday was when they put it on and then yesterday we went to my brother in law's house. I have a video, but haven't had time to upload it yet.
