10 month old baby allowed to drift out to sea - parents claim they forgot about her!

I cannot believe what I just saw on the news.

The parents of a 10 month old baby girl claimed they forgot about her being in the sea on an inflatable toy, until a rescue operation was launched to save her. It seems to me that if you believe that you will believe anything and they should have been arrested on the spot. Instead, they packed up and left the beach when she was handed back.

Here´s a link to the story https://uk.news.yahoo.com/baby-small-inflatable-drifts-sea-005937215.html#O4NysrX

Who in their right mind would leave a baby unattended like that unless they had evil intentions? Even if that was not the case and they left siblings looking out for her it was still grossly negligent.

What do you think?

I saw this on the evening news. Unbelievable and unforgivable! This story had a happy ending but can you imagine their feelings if it hadn't?

ARE YOU F^@%ING KIDDING ME?
I do not dare say what I am thinking here.

Did it though? That baby has now been handed back to parents who claim they forgot about her! Could you forget you left a baby in the sea on an inflatable? No, I didn´t think so.

I´m reigning it in too Coral, but your expletives matched my own.

Not only did they forget about her on the inflatable, I'm sure they cared enough to slather her with SPF50 before they set her out to enjoy her bask in the sunshine.

Why the authorities were not called to ask questions, at that moment, and she was turned over to them instead of Child Protective Services while under investigation, is beyond comprehension, Hollyhocks100 . Un-f-ing-believable.

NO child should be on an inflatable toy in the sea. That was criminal negligence. No wonder they left the beach, they must have known that questions would be asked.

Glad the baby is ok for now. But they do not deserve to have her.

I don't know what to think. Here in the U.S. people leave their babies in their cars in the hot summer and they die. This has been going on for about six years. The parents say they forgot about the baby.

I read that after waking up after a thunderstorm in the silly hours this morning. What the actual?

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 2:32 AM

I agree. As it was the coastguard who rescued the child and not just some passing boat, you would have thought they would have some obligation to report the incident.

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 2:34 AM

I agree, they did one before anyone could react, or maybe the crowd was starting to, especially if they heard the parent´s say they forgot about the child left alone in the sea.

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 2:40 AM

I wonder how long the baby will be Ok because my questions still are,how can you forget you have a child in the first place? And why would you leave a baby alone in the water on a plastic toy? A baby can die in a few inches of water .

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 2:42 AM

How can anyone forget about a baby ?

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 2:43 AM

Hope you managed to catch up on your sleep later. Yes the news is unbelievable isn´t it?

This is horrible! Those parents should not have this child. First parents were leaving their kids in hot cars in the high heat and now they are letting them drift out to sea. That poor poor baby. It ended up with her being safe this time but will she be in the future with parents like these?

We saw the report on the news and thought the same as all of the others here 'WTF' !!!!
I sure as hell would not leave any age child unattended on the beach. Gross negligence :)

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 8:06 AM

The parents must have not a brain cell between them, or they were trying to rid themselves of the baby is my opinion. God help the child.

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 5, 2015, 8:07 AM

The child should not have been handed over until the parents had been questioned is my thought.

Shellyann36 wrote on July 5, 2015, 9:38 PM

It is a shame. People just don't use common sense these days.

I don't believe this is stupidity.Which parents put their 10month old baby in the sea and forgets about that! Words fail me.Glad that the baby was safe.

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 6, 2015, 5:30 AM

These parents go well beyond stupid!

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 6, 2015, 5:31 AM

My thoughts exactly. Now if they had said, they thought she would be OK, that's one thing, but to say they forgot is something else entirely.

cheri wrote on July 14, 2015, 6:35 AM

Wow! What a terrible news. This is inconceivable for a parent to forget about his/her baby

Hollyhocks100 wrote on July 17, 2015, 3:17 AM

I completely agree and I think they must have left her there on purpose, what other explanation could there be?
