Journal 06-26-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day is for you. Today is Friday, June 26, 2015. The temperature is 64.9°F and the humidity is 61% at 4:56 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0 mph with gusts of 0.7 mph. There were some patched of blue when I stuck my head out, and I saw no stars. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 86° (“cooler than yesterday”) today.

Got a call yesterday from a friend. She said she downloaded some malware through a fake update then called Yahoo support, which was able to remove the malware after about three hours on the phone. They wanted to charge her something even more outrageous but she was able to take them down to $175. WOW.

She also told me that she’s going to a wedding the weekend. The bride and her daughter have been friend since they were little. They’re in their 30s now. It’s at private residence in a residential area and they’re expecting about 400 people. Yeah, that’ll go over well with the neighbors.

We’ve got plans to go to a park for a walk before it gets too hot. See how that goes.

Work on the kitchen progresses. The cabinet re-facing is a lot of work. So is figuring how all that stuff goes back into the kitchen drawers. I really think they should be relined, but I didn’t bring that up. Another job for another day. Mr. Siduri keeps saying that he has to halt the work soon for the barbecue. A school nearby has fireworks on the 3rd of July and we have a barbecue. Need to do a bit of cleaning and straightening up before then. Seems like we just had a barbecue!

Finally figured out how to take pictures of the books I’m reviewing and load them onto Examiner. That saves a lot of time hunting through Wikimedia.

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy. Hope the day brings you good things.

Off to write another day—

Writing schedule:

1. Spend an hour with Siegfried.

2. Finish review of The Secret in the Old Mill

4. Review “Madame Bovary’s Greyhound.”

5. Continue looking for markets for “Dirt.”

Good luck with your goals. I want just to read a good book and stay home today. Have a nice weekend.

How did the walk in the park go?What is the progress about Mr.Siduri's part time job? Hope you will find a market soon for ""Dirt''.

I don't have anything but free protection. I'm cheap. I've gotten nailed a couple of times but have been able, which much inconvenience to Mr. Siduri, get the crap off my various machines. Paying that kind of money, while it's well spent, just hurts.

Four hundred people in one's house? I don't know these people, but I think they're nuts already.

Thanks! I hope your weekend is exactly what you want. Nothing wrong with a good book. emoticon

The walk was very nice, thanks. And for some reason, it was deserted, except for a massive kids' party that we were able to avoid easily. The reason we went was they have a redwood grove. It's out of the way. We're going to go again when they have tour. Presumably these redwoods don't get as big as some in other parts of the state, but I'd still like to see them.

Mr. Siduri submitted his contract to a lawyer for review. He's meeting again with his old boss on Monday. I'm hoping the best for him. At least being an independent contractor, he can leave at any time.

Thanks for your well wishes. I keep looking.

Hoping you enjoy the rest of your week.

If she downloaded some malware, why did your friend call Yahoo Support? There are a number of free online programs which are able to remove malware. $175 is really being gouged.

Thank you, cheri . Enjoy your week as well.

What she told me is that the download came in some guise in conjunction with Yahoo and something else. Plus, she has been with Yahoo for nearly 20 years. She was able to talk to a person rather than search online and have to go through the procedures herself. I though $175 was outrageous, but I only made minimal protests. She started to tell me I should use Yahoo (I do, but only in a limited specialized capacity). I changed the subject. There have been times when I've downloaded malware like this that I've gone through multiple programs trying to get rid of it.
