Journal 06-25-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day is for you. Today is Thursday, June 25, 2015. The temperature is 64.3°F and the humidity is 88% at 4:48 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0.7 mph with gusts of 2.2 mph. There were some clouds when I stuck my head out, and I only saw a few stars. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 85° (“cooler than yesterday”) today.

Mr. Siduri’s meeting with his old boss went well enough. What he wants him to do is to keep track of some information in their oddball system and to supervise two of the employees. It is part-time contract position. He asked for a high hourly fee and will let himself be argued down a bit from there. He believes (and told the boss that) the supervision of the two employees was unnecessary. He’s drawn up a contract for the boss to sign and will let it be checked out by a lawyer before the boss reviews it.

I told him that whatever decision he makes I won’t second guess him—I gave him all my advice before he met with him—so I won’t. It will be nice to have some money coming in especially since my part time starvation wage job is even more starvation wage than before. This isn’t a long term solution, but it’s something. The boss said he wants to sell the business by December. HA!

And the cookies turned out pretty good, too. I froze most of them. They’re so light though, almost like cake, that we can eat them right out of the freezer, if the mood strikes. I didn’t use the icing, which also calls for buttermilk, much as I wanted to, because the buttermilk will go bad soon and the icing isn’t cooked.

Mr. Siduri mentioned that he got a good whiff of skunk—briefly—sometime in the night. We’ve been sleeping with the bedroom window open which is a testimony to the power of Flonase. In the past, Mr. Siduri would have been too stuffed up to be able to do that. I, of course, slept right through our little nocturnal visitor’s calling card.

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy. Hope the day brings you good things.

Off to write another day—

Writing schedule:

1. Spend an hour with Siegfried.

2. Finish review of The Best American Short Stories

3. Finish review of The Secret in the Old Mill

4. Review “Next to Nothing.” I mean it this time.

5. Continue looking for markets for “Dirt.”

Actually he should just add in the supervision duty, since that is a heavier responsibility and will justify higher pay.

Glad things went well with the old boss. Hope you have a good day too

Thanks! I'll be happy if he's happy. Money coming in is good, too.

But the supervision duty would take hardly any time at all. The people have been working for years with next to no supervision at all.
