Benefits of Melissa (Lemon Balm) Tea

Melissa officinalis has been used for a very long time as a tea, and essential oil, for its many benefits.

Some of the benefits listed include helpful for tension and anxiety, aids peaceful sleep, reduces depression and grief, fevers, and heart palpitations, and helps an over-active thyroid.

I used to have an old herbal too that attributed it with another wonderful benefit and which is why I started to drink it. This may be a result of the benefits listed above, but my herbal mentioned an anecdotal story that drinking this tea every day helped one live a very long life!

I'm lucky to live near a well-stocked Polish delicatessen that imports all variety of herbal teas from Europe and can get this package for $1.99. When I'm feeling like being a pure-ist, I cut the tea bag open and dump the contents into one of these metal tea leaf holders to steep my tea.

Who really knows but as the tea has a mild flavour, it's a nice alternative to a caffeine drink or to drink daily.

It sounds like a nice tea. I will have to look for it.
