Journal 06-08-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day is for you. Today is Monday June 8, 2015. The temperature is 60.8°F and the humidity is 90% at 5:38 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0 mph with gusts of 0 mph. It was overcast and dawning when I stuck my head out. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 92° today. Oh, goodie, goodie. Just the same, thunderstorms are predicted for tomorrow.

Despite my best intentions, I got a nasty headache yesterday and I was pretty useful for most of the day. I did a little cleaning with Mr. Siduri in the kitchen in preparation for painting, but that was about as far as I got. I did some reading, but almost no writing.

We have to wash the ceiling today. He took the light fixtures down and washed them, washed the ceiling behind them. He’s undecided about buying new ones. We’ll probably do that somewhere down the road. The ones that we have are 25 years old. The metal parts of them are starting to corroded. It’s question more of aesthetics than safety at this point, though.

Mr. Siduri’s mom asked me to bake some bread for her. We’ll be going up to see her tomorrow so I’ll bake the bread today. It’s soda bread, using soda rather than yeast for leavening. It’s quite quick and simple.

Reading Writing Fantasy & Science Fiction , another in the never-ending slew of how-to books from Writer’s Digest on writing. This has an article on steampunk, which doesn’t interest me all that much, but the article itself was interesting. I don’t intend to ever write steampunk. Just the same, the article did give me pause and make me take it a little more seriously than before. I’ve always seen it as style over substance—I mean really, coal-powered spaceships?

Off to write another day—

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy. Hope the day brings you good things.

Writing schedule (stop me if you’ve heard this one):

1. Work on fairy tale.

2. Spend an hour with Siegfried

3. Finish review for Examiner.

Much better, thanks. And yes, the cleaning and refurbishment of the house continues.
