Do You Have a Favourite Flower?

My mother used to love sunflowers. We are a spiritualist family and the sunflower is a symbol of the Spiritualist Church. But she also just thought they were beautiful. So when she died, you couldn't move for them.

Four years ago, my dad decided he wanted to grow some, just for Mum. Being the cynical person that I USED to be, I assumed it would go wrong for some reason and that they wouldn't grow. Boy, was I wrong.

They were huge! Dad had planted all kinds of different ones but the one shown in the photo was my favourite.

When the time was right, we placed them on Mum's grave. And even though I'm not really one for flowers, I thought they looked wonderful.

Do you have a favourite flower?

I haven't seen red sunflowers before. I am not sure that I have a favourite flower, I like so many of them!

Nice photo. The sunflowers I am familiar with . are yellow. As for favorite flowers,I like all flowers including wild flowers. I love looking at bougainvillea flowers of different colors. Also I like roses.

That's a gorgeous sunflower! Personally, I love lilies and irises. I also like violets, pansies, marigolds, morning glory, and nasturtiums.

It would be easier to name a few flowers I´m not keen on rather than all the one´s I consider favorites LOL emoticon  As a spiritualist, you must realise that your Mum was probably in the garden with your Dad whispering growing hints and tips to him whilst he was planting the seed and raising the sunflowers.

I enjoy native wildflowers. I was caught by your reference to your membership in a spiritualist church. I'm not sure Wikipedia is the best source for reference material, but it says it is related to spiritism and often involves a spirit medium. Please don't think me rude if I suggest you read the following verse in connection with that: Leviticus 20:27. This relates to the nation of Israel, and today Christianity supercedes Judaism. But God's mind is nevertheless accurately portrayed in the Hebrew scriptures, and it doesn't speak well of spiritism or spirit mediums.
