Are We An Anal Culture?
I mostly mean the US since I was just looking at amazon.com, but I bet the other amazons are similar. Or maybe I'm wrong!
I was just checking the best seller list in Health and Personal Care.
17 out of the first 20 best seller items are diapers, toilet paper deals, wet tissues, disinfectants and paper towel deals. Really anal items literally and figuratively speaking.
2 Fit Bit items and a protein bar were the other 3. Wow!
On amazon.ca not one cleaning item or personal use (like really personal) item was on the same best seller first 20 list. So are Canadians more relaxed? Not so fearful of germs?
Or do they get better deals at the local markets? We all need toilet paper, disinfectant wipes (unless like many you clean your home without chemicals perfectly well) and of course babies need disposable diapers if mom does not or cannot choose the cloth diapers and an attendant cleaning service.
Amazon.co.uk is similar to the Canadian amazon personal item best seller favorites.
Yup, I think the US is an anal culture!
I wonder if it is because drugs can be advertised on television - people get afraid of being sick?
Another guess is homes in the US are pretty big - compared to older places. Lots of storage for those bulk diaper/toilet roll/paper towel bulk packages.
What do you think? What's your funniest thought on this?
