Journal 05-22-2015
Good morning or whatever part of the day is for you. Today is Friday May 22, 2015. The temperature is 59.4F and the humidity is 51% at 5:05 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 1.6 with gusts of 2.2 mph. It was cloudy when I stuck my head with patches of blue but no stars. Weather Underground is predicting a 40% chance of precipitation and a high of 68° today.
The crown yesterday turned out to be a root canal. The pain and discomfort was, for all I’ve heard about root canal, rather minimal. The dentist wrote me a script for Motrin. Throwing a monkey wrench into the works is that I was running a low grade temperature. I didn’t feel anything else except sleepy. What was really painful was the $400 added to the bill. Right now, the jaw feels a little tender, but I’m not in pain. I probably won’t be eating taffy or popcorn for a while, thought.
Without going into details, there is a drama brewing among some of Mr. Siduri’s friends. It grew out of a legitimate complaint one had with another, but what galls me is that the girlfriend of the wronged party is using the occasion to stir up trouble. And she will continue to do so. If permitted, she goes on 10-minute little mini rants on the evils of the other person involved. And these are the people we’re having over on Sunday. If girlfriend can just keep from spreading her poison—but I know she can’t. I asked Mr. Siduri if we can just cancel the barbecue. I don’t want to deal with the drama. I don’t want to hear the poison, how evil J is, how her boyfriend now lives in fear of him (…no) or of the destruction of his property (…no).
There’s a bird chirping someplace in the dark, echoing in the chimney. He must be on the chimney. It just reminds me that while I’m safe and warm inside, there’s a whole world outside, not so far removed.
Still not feeling 100%. Take it easy today.

I hope you are feeling better after your root canal! yeah it is easy to forget there is a world out there! That is why I like to try to get some fresh air each day! I don't like drama either! Good luck with the barbecue!

I'm feeling better, thanks. Jaw is a little sore and I'll be careful of the stuff I eat for a while, but nothing major. Thanks on the well-wishes with the barbecue. I just don't want to deal with the drama. I'm so tired of it already.

Thanks. I'm glad it didn't go too badly. I've heard some people say they were miserable after a root canal. I'm OK.

Yikes! SO are you cancelling or not? I take it talking to this girlfriend and asking her to keep the peace for just that day is useless, right? I hope you have a good weekend, mine is starting off bad, had two awful dogs today and my foot hurts and I am tired, yet my son is pestering me about spending the night at this one kid's house where it is nearly impossible to reach him. (We haven't replaced my son's phone uyet and this kid gets his phone taken away, so 9 times out of 10, I just get voice mail and no return calls). So I think I will go to bed early tonight..

A bit late to cancel. Mr. Siduri did mention to one of the guys involved that it was not a good idea to bring up the business as there are others who have no idea what's gone on. At good thing. But girlfriend will have her say... Well, hopefully others will have something to say as well.

Oh, had that done. They had to chisel them out of my jaw. I learned to like Jell-O. Hope yours goes more smoothly, though.

Ah, thanks. It went nicely. And she behaved herself. I think for once she realized how destructive the behavior of running down someone else is. I hope your weekend was nice as well.
