Tree Planting Time

Yep, it is definitely tree planting time around our house. My hubby ordered some trees from a nursery and they finally arrived. Now, I have had varying experiences with the planting of trees with my hubby, so I decided to stay clear. Just to let you know why I'm inside watching him, I'll give you an example of just one experience I have had with hubby and tree planting.

I believe we were in our late twenties, so it was pretty early in our marriage. My hubby comes in and says to me, "Do you want to help me plant some trees?"

I looked at him and asked, "What specifically can I do in this project?"

"Well, you can tell me where to plant the trees." He had two of them that he was planting in the front yard. Mind you, our first place was narrow and long. With the front yard being rather limited. So, I grudgingly go out with him. And hubby goes, "Here's the deal, you can plant the tree here or here, to avoid having them hit any wires as they grow."

Now remember, he only had two trees. I looked at him and said, "Ah, I believe you have it all taken care of here. You have two trees and only two places to put them. I don't think you need my help."

Not to be outdone he goes, "Oh, you can tell me which tree you want in those spots."

I shook my head and said, "Okay." Then I told him which trees I wanted where. Ha! He didn't like my suggestion. End of story. Never again did I intrude in his tree planting, even if he asks. Which by the way, he did do last night. As the old saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Well, at least I have some me time now with hubby out planting trees. And the dog, loves being outside with him so she just spent her time sleeping under her tree.

I wish that was true in our household. I've just given up. But I do have some say where the flowers go.

Yeah, I believe you are right. But it does get kind of boring watching.

That's very funny and makes me think of Mr. Ravelle; I've learned that it's best to let him talk about whatever, but I try to keep out of his projects!
