Journal 05-07-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Thursday May 7, 2015. The temperature is 5°F 8.9 the humidity is 7% at 4:36 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 1.6 with gusts of 3.1 mph. It was cloudy when I stuck my head out. Saw the moon glowing from behind clouds only and no stars. Weather Underground is predicting a 20% chance of precipitation and a high of 63° today.
The drive went OK yesterday. Got turned around inside the complex where I was dropping the rider off, though. Goofy numbering system. But he got there in plenty of time. Another hard luck story. Guy is in early 60s I would guess. Had driven a public bus in L.A. and Orange County, as well as driven 18-wheelers. On his last day of training for his last 18-wheeler job, the guy who was training him ran the cab over his leg which is why he’s out on workman’s comp. In the meantime, he lost his wife. Can’t help but feel bad for him. But at least he was able to walk without a cane.
Some friends are coming down today and then we’re going to lunch. Think I’ll make cookies this morning. It will require a trip to the store for chocolate chips, but that shouldn’t be an obstacle.
Gremlin meowed at the back door for a while yesterday so I let him in, just to see what he would do. He made the circuit of the coffee table, said hello to Mr. Siduri and ducked behind the TV before bolting out the back door. It seems he just wants the option of coming in, but certainly doesn’t want to stay
There just aren’t enough hours in the day. Mr. Siduri is taking the inside doors off and scraping them and repainting them one by one. At least when we have company today, there will be a door on the bathroom. It will look a whole better. I have to hand it to him; he’s not sitting idle in retirement.
Mailed off a jar of really yummy preserves to my mother for Mother’s Day. She always says she doesn’t want anything, that her tiny condo is already packed with stuff. It is. But she loves jam. And this stuff is good. It’s from a specialty store, not the kind of stuff you get in the supermarket. Trouble is, I send it to her all the time. I’m not very creative in that respect.
Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy. Hope the day brings you good things.

Thanks! Yes, they're laying the new floor in the master bathroom tomorrow. The guest bath has the new toilet, which (so the advertising says) can flush 17 golf balls. We haven't, and don't plan to, put that to the test. But yes, it's all coming together. Hope your day goes well also!
