Domain Names – Best Time to Buy

Follow-up to one of my posts published when I first became a FOPP :
Bloggy Moms Network
My activity with this network is limited to signing in about once a month. It has excellent tools and resources and even though it has the word “Moms” in the domain name, there are dads there as well. The two features of this network that have been very helpful for me are:
(1) practical blogging and homebusiness entrepreneur advice shared by the members; (plus some really good recipes like " Jovina's Cooking With Italian Herbs - Thyme " ); and
(2) it's a great place to share your links or publish your own blog posts; they allow affiliatelinks .
This morning I reviewed the site owners very first blog post on “ How to Start a Blog ”. Although my blogs have been up and running for a few years, checked to see if there was something extra that needed to be done. The one step that hasn't been performed is the purchase of a domain name. Holding off on that. Why? Because that's an investment . Sure! You can buy domain names cheap. But that name is your blood, sweat and tears. It's your brand name, your business reputation, your goodwill. You want it to last like Coca Cola or McDonalds or Motown; and become a part of Americana ! If you haven't gotten your website or blog to a reasonable popularity level where you have faithful subscribers, readers and sharers or a customer base, why bother putting your mark on it. Wait until it gets going.
Any fellow bloggers out there? Did you already purchase a domain name?

I host my own blogs, so I am not at the mercy of a blogging platform that decides to delete my blog on a whim with no notice. That means I have to have a domain name.
