Walking down by the River

I love to go walking down by the River at least once a day sometimes two times and I never fail to find something to photograph so I always (nearly) take my trusty Camera.

Well the last week has been a 'bummer' rained every day nearly all day !My gauge overflowed three times so that would be well over 180mm (over 7 inches) So today is the first time I actually got to 'walk'! Talk about 'stir crazy' lol

Well what a surprise I got when I walked up along the river. I think the birds were just waiting for me ?

There were all sorts from the smallest Wrens to the large Pelicans and Eagles Wow

Not to mention the in betweeners like Swans, Ducks, Plovers, Egrets, etc! Anyhow enough of the teasing alongside are just some of the photos I managed to capture and these photos were taken within about a one hour time span!

Yes I know I am spoiled with the wildlife that I share this area with! It's a tough life but Hey someones gotta do it :)

You caught the perfect image of both birds, I love to see eagles and hawks when they soar way up in the sky and the little wren looked a bit miffed.

Enjoy the birds, but could you send some spare rain this way?

I consider myself so lucky to be able to view these birds in their natural habitat and I do everything that I can to not disturb them more than necessary to get the photo! You are quite correct the little wren was not too happy with me being there and I gave me the 'eye ball'. and I moved on to leave it in peace :)

The weather has been crazy hasn't it ? It is still officially Autumn here and we have had much more than our average and more to come. There are some 'flood' warnings issued just yesterday :)

That's not fun. We've been in a drought for some years now. There's talk (and then some) of water rationing and such. Of course, it's the average Joe who's going to pay the most proportionally for that...

Terrific photos especially the closeup. What an expression!

Yes John the funny thing was I was not that close (used a telephoto lens) to the wren when I took the photo so I did not realise what a great expression it had until I got to look on the Computer. It took me by surprise to! What an attitude lol

Wow, very striking photographs! 7 inches is a whole lot of rain, even for a whole week.

agvulpes wrote on May 7, 2015, 9:38 AM

Yes 7 inches is a lot for our area and the river is right on the high water mark and some of the low land is under flood (great for the water birds)
I saw a SpoonBill today which is rare !
Some areas of Australia had over 12 inches of rain and a number of people were drowned in the resulting flood! Very sad indeed :(

Good photos. It is nice that you take time to walk by down the river every day.I like walking along the seashore. But I do not see such birds here.

Well I do agree with you ! My preference is to walk along the Ocean Beach and watch the waves come crashing in! However that requires me getting the car out and traveling about 20 ks. It's much easier to walk to the river and I get so see so many more birds as well :)

That is great photography. I enjoy all the critters around here, but I rarely get a great photo.

agvulpes wrote on June 21, 2015, 9:27 AM

Oh I might get one photograph in a day that I am happy with but sometimes I don't get any! I compare it to fishing or hunting :)

I think they were probably as stir crazy as you were! Very nice pictures.
