Journal 04-23-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Thursday April 23, 2015. The temperature is 59.1°F and the humidity is 81% at 7:12 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0.7 with gusts of 3.8 mph. Got up a little later than usual. It’s cloudy and gloomy, but there’s some sky showing through. They’ve been talking all week about rain toward the end of the week, but it looks like it’s not to be. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 70 today.

The critique group is tonight. So that means last minute tweaks on Chapter 1 of Siegfried (last week, Mr. Siduri told me he didn’t understand why I bothered with Examiner at all, that I should be finishing Siegfried…),printing eight copies and baking cookies. No problems.

The new toilet is happily installed, low-flow with the seat a little higher off the ground than before. I’ll have to remember that when I stumble into the room of necessity half-asleep first thing in the morning. Using it is like causing a mini-hurricane. The old convenience was original to the house and about 50 years old, one of the reasons it had to be retired. The guy who sold it to Mr. Siduri said it was capable of disposing of 17 golf balls or three cellphones—not that we’re going to put that to the test, but after having it heard it several time now, I can believe it.

Off to feed the poor neglected Gremlin. Life is not fair when you’re a furball.

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy.

Writing schedule:

1. Continue reading Guide to Writing Fantasy and Science Fiction.

2. Finish tweaking and printing out Chapter 1 for the critique group.

3. As time permits, read and review “The Cats of Ulthar.”

Lol seventeen golf balls! Congrats on your new toilet. Every household needs a reliable one.

Hmmm.... I could do that.

I'm not going to put that to the test.... If it failed, we'd look like complete idiots calling the plumber, for one, but aside from that—

Yes, reliable indoor plumbing. My grandparents lacked that. They lived in the woods and had, um, a secondary facility with a half moon carved in the door. I remember as a kid fumbling for my boots in the winter before making a mad dash. Ah, yes, good memories...

Thanks. I hope it provides us with many years of good service. Hope your day is good well.
