Journal 04-21-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Tuesday April 21, 2015. Hard to believe we’ve been married for a month. The temperature is 60.2°F and the humidity is 43% at 8:07 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0.7 with gusts of 3.8 mph. The sky is overcast and it looks like it wants to rain, regardless of what Weather Underground says. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 69 today.

Slept in today and feel like everything is a little off kilter. Want to try to make cookies again. Want to start getting Chapter 1 ready for the critique group. I doubt I’ll have chapter 2 ready in two weeks. It’s such a mess. I’m only giving myself a little bit to do as far as writing today.

Not much by way of bump in examiner. Oh, well.

I’m experimenting with Tweetdeck, which is a way of monitoring Twitter. So far what I’ve accomplished is to confuse myself. But at least I can time my Tweet, that is, I can link several review have them post, say, 15 minutes apart so it doesn’t look quite as spammy as it is.

The Guide to Writing Fantasy and Science Fiction I picked up with the idea that it would further spur me to write Siegfried. Most of it so far I’ve read elsewhere except for the idea of a genre called slipstream, which is defines as science fiction but little science and almost all fiction. I still have no clear idea of what it is and the example the book gives of it I haven’t read.

Mr. Siduri said that he read a British study saying that most professional writers make less than minimum wage. I told him that they probably make more than the part-time starvation-wage job I have.

This is going to be a happy day. If the cookies turn out, I may end up eating them all.

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy.

Writing schedule:

1. Continue reading Guide to Writing Fantasy and Science Fiction.

2. Review “The Return of Measles”
