Journal 04-19-2015

Good morning or whatever part of the day it is for you. Today is Sunday April 19, 2015. The temperature is 54.1°F and the humidity is 74% at 4:33 a.m. PST (-8 GMT). Weather Underground shows sustained winds at 0 with gusts of 0 mph. The sky was clear again when I looked out this morning. Saw the Big Dipper, but no moon. Weather Underground is predicting a 0% chance of precipitation and a high of 79 today.

I started this journal entry yesterday but never beyond the first paragraph. To be delicate, my stomach required that I be up most of the night, well, reading the newspaper in the other room. I remember getting to bed about 4:30. As a consequence, I slept a good part of the day. I got no writing projects done, but finished Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It’s an entertaining read, to be sure. It just seems like it holds the characters up to ridicule. The author claims it is non-fiction, with real characters, but also say he has taken some license with the narrative. I’d like to see how the people of Savannah felt about it.

The writer’s club meeting was yesterday morning. The topic was building an author’s platform, which I thought timely. The speaker was not particularly articulate and, at least I didn’t think so, didn’t answer some questions directly, but she did give us a hand-out with ideas that I can follow-up on and hope to find useful.

When I got to the door, I realized I had forgotten my checkbook. I felt like such an idiot. Another member paid for me. That was incredibly nice of her.

I made cookies for the first time in a long time. Yeah, my baking is a bit rusty.

Thanks for reading. Hope you and yours are all well and happy.

Writing schedule:

1. Re-read and review “The Skull.”

2. Review “In the Barn.”

3. Review Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil for Examiner.

Thanks. Tummy is settling. Now it's mostly just sleep...
