My extended family

During my introduction post a few months ago, I had forgotten to mention a big part of my pets! Some of you that were from Bubblews know that I have a mini zoo! lol I have a couple of parrots, chickens, a leopard gecko (she actually belongs to my youngest son), a Betta fish, and a chihuahua. I've also inherited my mom's cat recently. (My mom, as some of you may know, has dementia and is living in a care home.)

Unfortunately, a few weeks after I had written that post, I had to put my chihuahua down (the one in the first picture). She was only 3 years old, so it was unexpected and came as quite a shock.

It was also very hard on my family and I. There was a void in our hearts that needed to be filled. So, we ended up getting another chihuahua. (The one that is pictured below.)

I've got to say that she's been a wonderful addition. Best of all, she has helped to make my family complete again.

Well, that's about it...for now. What about you? Do you have any pets?

I agree, it is very sad &AbbyG ! I also agree that my new chihuahua was not meant to be a replacement. They have completely differently personalities!

Small dogs rule, big dogs drool. Sadly, that's literally! Does your chihuahua prove to be a "Bob Barker?"

It is never easy to put down and say goodbye to pets who have been part of one's family. As for me, back in the day I had pets - a couple of gold fishes, an iguana, and an albino python. The iguana and python I donated to the local wildlife park while the gold fishes are in an aquatic heaven now.

You mean as far as getting her spayed? She isn't as of yet, but I plan on getting it done soon!

Firecracker wrote on April 23, 2015, 3:48 AM

I couldn't imagine having a python, although I did want an iguana before! lol

Firecracker wrote on April 23, 2015, 3:49 AM

Yep, I sure do! :)

No. Just is it yappity, a barker? Many chihuahuas are.

Let's just say that she has her moments. Otherwise she is relatively quiet. :)

I got my first pet cat when I was five years old, and I've had cats ever since, along with the occasional guinea pig or gerbil, and lots of fish, too. Currently, we have two cats, Spencer and and Naomi, about whom I have posted occasionally.

Oh my, your new baby is adorable. Well you already know what I have, 2 beagle/border collies and you already know what I feed them (which is why I skipped that but I also foster many dogs and cats, not the kind of foster where they live with me, but I dog/cat sit sometimes too.

That is quite a zoo! We have been adopted by the neighbour's escaped barn cat. Other than that our yard is home to many birds, frogs, an occasional little lizard and rabbits. The deer, moose, badgers, coyotes and foxes pass by.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you were able to bring another little one into your hoe and that she has helped you heal. She's adorable!

I am sorry your beloved pet died, may he rest in peace. It reminds me of how my brother in law and sister lost their beloved dog earlier this year , it was a sad thing.
