Catching up after my recent road trip
In my last post , I mentioned that I was about to set off on an 1,800 mile road trip, from New Jersey to Indianapolis and then Sewanee, Tennessee. Well, as you can see I survived — and I had a great time! The drive mostly wasn't too bad, except for one bad torrential rain storm on the way out as I was on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
I left New Jersey about 3pm last Thursday and made it to Indianapolis around 4am in the morning. I slept in until about 10am and then spent a few hours exploring the Indianapolis Museum of Art before meeting up with my friends for dinner and the concert. We loved it and all had a great time hanging out - and getting to say a quick hello to our friend on the crew and Stewart Copeland as well - the main reason we'd all traveled from far and wide to see the show!
The next day we all road tripped from Indianapolis down through Kentucky, then Nashville, to make it to Sewanee. It was a bit of a close call making it in time due to heavy traffic and road construction — thankfully one of our crew was local to Nashville so she knew how to plan around the construction delays. We made it to Sewanee about 5pm, had a quick but amazing dinner, and then made it to the venue by 7pm. Early enough that we got front row seats with a great view of the band, and it was an even better concert than the night before!

After the concert we had some more time to talk to Stewart and get a couple group shots before calling it a night.
Sunday it was a quick goodbye breakfast at the Waffle House before we all parted and headed back out on the road. Driving straight through from about 11am I made it home by about 2am Monday morning, exhausted but so glad I'd made the trip! I loved seeing some of my friends again and of course enjoying music by one of my favorite composers and performers. Hopefully we'll be meeting up again to make some more shows later this year...who knows!
