I'd Rather Be Writing

I've been absent against my preference a lot recently. Remember my big decluttering job that was going to get done nice and leisurely over the winter?
Right. Not a lick.
So now it's crunch time. I have the first of several household chore appointments tomorrow (new internet!), and I seriously need to clear a trail to the computer. I'm within sight, but it's going to be down to the minute getting access to my work area for someone other than me.
After that, I have several other appointments to schedule. Taxes are due in a couple of weeks. I'd like to have a yard sale shortly after that. What little time that's left has to be prioritized according to what brings in the most money the quickest. Unfortunately, that bumps writing much farther down the list than I care for it to be.
I'll be here as much as possible, but if you don't hear from me, call in a search party. I'll probably be in a bag of clothes or at the bottom of a book avalanche.
So what's Guiness the Cat's role in all this? Supervisor, cat hair contributor, and complainer that he doesn't get all the time he wants outside.

I really need to declutter my spare room. I have just bought new living room furniture that I don't have time to build as well so that will need to live in the spare room until I have time to deal with it.

As the Flylady says, "It didn't get cluttered overnight and it won't get decluttered overnight". (Flylady.net) She has lots of tools for KEEPING things decluttered once the job is done, also for helping with next year's taxes, etc.

I'm facing similar issues and haven't been writing much either. I've been working outside the home more, which leaves less time to do inside work. Unfortunately, housework always seems to be the first thing to go. Mildred doesn't supervise me. She stays out of my way when I'm cleaning, especially when I drag out the vacuum cleaner. With her long winter hairdo, vacuuming is my least favorite household chore.

Guiness will surely supervise things with ease. Ensuring that things get done and projects are completed the soonest.
What would we do without our feline friends?
Good luck!

If we lived closer together, I'd take Guiness outdoors so you could work distraction-free. I know better than to offer to help clear clutter -- that's something that has to be done by the clutterer. lol

I hope that you are able to achieve the things on your to-do list. It's not always easy to do, but things do need to get done. Good luck!

I just sorted out what was in my personal fridge - I say personal fridge as it has all the goodies that are my favourite (lol). April is a month of deadlines here as well.

I try not to clutter things up. I'm OCD about clutter and chaos.
wolfgirl569 wrote on April 1, 2015, 10:51 PM
Hope you get everything caught up in time for all your appointments. Have fun with the yard sale

Haha, I always said that the life of a cat is always one of the best provided they get a great owner like Guinness.

The problem with decluttering, as I am finding, is that the decluttering efforts cause as much clutter as the original clutter. You have to sort everything out, find out what you're looking at, have several bags for clothes to sell, clothes to donate and clothes to throw out, and so on. Good luck with your decluttering efforts. Try to keep Guiness' nose out of every box and bag you find, although that might be a tall order, thinking about it.

I sure hear you. My husband just asked when I will start imputing the tax information. Right. Maybe as soon as I get the software installed. I'm going to do them here, so no more big desk to spread everything on. Fortunately most customers don't order the couple of weeks before taxes are due, and many schools are also on vacation. But I'm afraid I will pretty much have to stop writing in the duration until taxes are behind me. I'm also supposed to do the cooking today if I want to eat.

We all need a supervisor, I excel at that - the Fluff.

Sounds like you are going to be quite the busy lady. I wish you the best of luck with a yard sale. I never seem to have much luck with them.

I've managed to clean my daughters bedroom floor enough to get the vacuum cleaner through. And I defurred my bedroom carpet (thanks Morph!). I have to do tax papers today too - sigh. Morpheus will just nap.

Good luck with all that clutter. This week I am listening to an audio book. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up Marie Kondo. It sounds inspiring, but I haven't budged off my couch yet. lol

I've got several generations of clutter. It's a chore.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 5, 2015, 11:51 PM
I need to declutter every room. I think it breeds and multiplies.
1OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 5, 2015, 11:53 PM
It's definitely going to take awhile. But I'm encouraged by what I've accomplished so far, and I haven't actually gotten rid of anything yet.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 5, 2015, 11:58 PM
This is Guiness the Cat. I see no point in the vacuum. I had to stop supervising the declutterizing in the bedroom and go guard my couch in the living room against it. Just in case.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 5, 2015, 11:59 PM
This is Guiness the Cat. You don't realize how exhausting supervision is.
1OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:01 AM
This is Guiness the Cat. I agree. You come over and we'll go outside and you can watch me lay on the driveway.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:02 AM
I've got a good start, but I've still got a long way to go.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:03 AM
The fridge is on the list, too.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:05 AM
Unfortunately, I have a high tolerance for it.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:06 AM
I have at least 1 friend going in with me, so it should be fun.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:06 AM
Guiness does have it made.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:09 AM
That's the problem I have. At the moment, the only place I have to put what I drag out is in the middle of the living room floor. Guiness has already taken over several boxes.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:13 AM
I'm not going to get much done until after taxes, either.
1OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:16 AM
Dear Fluff,
Humans can't ever seem to get much accomplished without us supervising, do they?
Sincerely, Guiness the Cat
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:16 AM
I hope it does well.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:18 AM
This is Guiness the Cat. It's amazing. There is a corner in the bedroom. Who knew?
1OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 6, 2015, 12:20 AM
Sounds like me. I'm good at putting things on lists. I have tons of lists.
momathome wrote on April 6, 2015, 4:32 PM
Sounds like you have a lot of work cut out for you. I know what you mean about not being able to write much. With the pay rates so low for writing sites, I just can't add them to my "priority" list.
Bobbydem wrote on April 7, 2015, 12:02 AM
It's a bit like coat hangers - you put two in a cupboard and a week later there are 10.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 8, 2015, 12:29 AM
I'm trying to build up my mystery shopping opportunities and doing more surveys. I wish writing would pay the bills.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 8, 2015, 12:31 AM
I think I'm in the coat hanger breeding business. I wish I could sell some of them in the yard sale.
momathome wrote on April 8, 2015, 11:45 PM
I miss the days when I could spend 10 hours every day on Bubblews and make enough to cover every bill we had! Those were the good days.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 9, 2015, 12:53 AM
This is Guiness the Cat. I miss the days when I could buy my own cat food, litter, and insulin with what I made on Bubblews. Meow.
rosepetal wrote on April 10, 2015, 12:56 PM
I wish you luck with you luck with your decluttering. When I declutter I seem to make a bigger mess before all is said and done.
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 11, 2015, 1:16 AM
Me, too. I'm hoping to get rid of enough stuff in the yard sale to have some room to better sort and organize everything else.
Firecracker wrote on April 12, 2015, 4:38 PM
Same here! I'd rather be writing as well. Instead, I need to tend to other things! *doh* lol
OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on April 12, 2015, 11:00 PM
At the moment, I'd rather be sleeping. Hopefully by midweek I can be back writing regularly.

This is Guiness the Cat. I am.

This is Guiness the Cat. Ha! It's MY job, and I'm not giving it up. Everyone knows cats are better than humans at this sort of thing.
