PANDAS is not the same as Pandas

Pandas
- lovely cuddly black and white animals, symbol of the World Wide Fund for animals, eaters of bamboo and shoots and possibly stars of the grammar book "Eats shoots and leaves" (or maybe not).
What is PANDAS?
Totally different from PANDAS which is a very serious illness caused by the Streptococcus bacteria in Children. PANDAS stands for Paediatric (Pediatric if you are in the USA) Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder. The bacterium causes a child's own immune system to attack the brain, making them feel as if their brain is on fire and causing many different symptoms, such as personality changes, tics, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and regression in cognitive and physical activities.
Earthquake in the Brain
His parents have described it as like having an earthquake in the brain and that their child woke up totally different and almost unrecognisable!
Parents Fundraising
His parents are fundraising to get him more treatment. You can see their page here .

That sounds horrible! Maybe time to donate another eBay weekend's earnings to another medical fundraiser, as I did with the chap I wrote about a few weeks ago.

First time I've heard about such disease. It does sound horrible. How much do we know about this disease and is there any known cure?
