So What If I Like Wrestling?

I'm about to go off on a rant, and please keep in mind, I am not referring to any one person or website. What I'm ranting about has happened before, and it will probably happen again. The burden of being a wrestling fan....

I have written about wrestling -mainly the WWE- on several of these websites. I use these types of websites to blog, and you're supposed to write about what interests you. Well, the WWE interests me.

When you write on multiple websites, there is bound to be people who have to tell you it's "fake," questioning why you like it, "how can to you watch it," etc. I have made hints that my WWE posts are mainly for the people who follow me and like the WWE. I usually let the comments roll off my shoulders, but after a while it kind of gets irritating.

Okay, for starters, I don't like the term "fake." It's scripted and pre-determined, but please don't call it fake to me. Someone just passed away a few weeks ago over the injuries sustained in a match that went terribly wrong. Others have had concussions, broken bones... one will never walk again. I just find it disrespectful to them, and a bit disrespectful to me too, even if it wasn't intentional. But let's also keep in mind, it is no more scripted than other shows and movies.

It doesn't matter why I like it, how old I am, how I can watch it, etc. There is no age limit to watching something you love. If that's the case then maybe we should -all- give up what we love and sit around watching paint dry. Sounds fun, eh? I like it because it's fun to watch; -I- find it to be entertaining. I have had amazing experiences and met some of my best friends because I'm a wrestling fan, and I have no regrets.

Now I am not talking about innocent comments, but when I get the vibe that I'm being looked down on because I like wrestling; I don't like that. I would never down anyone for being a fan The Walking Dead or The Fast and The Furious series -for examples. You like what you like, and it's good to be into something and to have some fun.

I am not asking anyone to watch it with me. Trust me, I have my friends who watch it with me. I'm just asking to be respected for something I like. You're never obligated to comment my posts, and if you don't want to comment my WWE/wrestling posts, then that's fine. If you do comment, please just let me like what I want. I’m already thinking about just sticking my WWE-related stuff on certain blogs, and not so much on others. -Sigh- It’s not really fair to me, but it is what it is, I guess.

While it may not seem like it, I -CAN- handle other opinions, but it’s just the way you put it, ya know? :-/

Thanks. I’m sorry if this comes across as mean, because I'm not a mean person, but everyone needs to vent sometimes. I'm going to go to bed, my laptop is about to die anyways. Goodnight. Take care.

I am a huge wresting fan myself. I love wrestling of the 70& 80. Don't worry about what others write a comment is a comment. Think of it that way. Do not let them get to you. If, you are having fun writing the piece than try not to worry what others. Think. I that is hard to do.

I am wrestling fan too but lately I am not watching anymore. My preferred sport right now is Mixed Martial Arts.

My husband is fans of wrestling, but I'm not at all. I would rather watch soccer or another stuff. Wrestling is just not for me :D

My son started watching WWE wrestling again after a long break and right now he is playing WWE 2k15 on XboxOne in the living room

I hate those people that think we are stupid just because we are wrestling fans. Unfortunately its just the way the internet is I guess.

BrenndaMarie - Oh I usually don't let it get to me, but after a while of dealing with it, you finally have to say something.

luisga814 and princesskaurvaki - Oh and that's fine, not everyone is (still) into it these days. As long as people can respect that I like it, it's all good over here lol.

Soonerdad3 - Nice lol! Believe it or not, I play the older WWF games on my Plug and Play Sega, rather than the newer ones. Today's video games at not my strong point, but maybe one day I'll try the more updated WWE games lol.

melody23 - I think it's been that way even before the Internet. Assuming we're stupid just because we watch wrestling is stupid itself. :-/

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I wasn't sure if I was gonna turn any heads, but I needed to get that off my chest. :-/

I have not played video games in quite a long time, my son is actually playing his game right now and his mom is watching him.

Ah. I mainly play the older games, it's been years since I've played one of the newer WWE games, or new games in general (as our Wii needs to be hooked back up).

I'm one of those who write about wrestling. I understand what you are saying but for me, i just don't let those negative comments affect me. Come to think of it, I've slowed down writing about wrestling and sports in general here in PP, I guess, I'll write a couple more next month.

I usually don't let it get to me either, but I finally had enough. If people don't like wrestling, that's fine, but they need to respect that I do or just don't bother commenting at all. :-/

Rant away and then enjoy some more wresting. Don't let other people's comments/opinion take away the joy you get from being a wresting fan.

Thank you so much! It gets irritating, but I'm still a fan at the end of the day! :)
