Mildred the Cat … Help, more name calling

Howdy everybody. I hope everyone is well. I am ok, except for all the name-calling still going on around here.

You know I’ve been having a problem with my mom calling me absurd names like Mildred Kitty Witty. Today she came up with a new one – Mildred Silly Dilly Willy. Egads! Not even close to my real name.

Why do cat parents insist on doing this? We are given a name upon arrival, but that name is never enough. It seems most humans have one name but we fine upstanding kitties can have as many names as our humans can invent and spew upon us on a daily basis, all done in the name of love according to my mom.

Does this mean my mom’s mom didn’t love her as much as my mom loves me? Her mom (my late grandmother) called her Linda. So did her father. So does her brother and all her friends. No Linda Pinda or Lindy Pindy or Linda Dolly Dimples Wimples or Linda-Such-A-Good-Girl. Just Linda.

I was thinking of calling my mom Windy Lindy to see how she likes it but I think I’m rethinking that. I really want my toys and my chicken treats and don’t want to risk losing them, even for a short time.

Sorry for the rant. I’m feeling a little better now that I’ve shared this with you. I’m still a little upset and I think a long nap on my mom’s bed will help ease my pain.

Till next time, purrs, paws and high fives.

Aside from our name, we also have nicknames and monikers. That's it. Waheehee.

Ah, but Mildred kitty witty, you didn't know your mom when she was little. I bet her mom and dad called her all the lovely little names you get, especially when you are getting your ears scratched?

crowntower wrote on March 26, 2015, 9:15 AM

Lol!!! Bear with it little Mildred... hahahahaha, crowntower here. That's okay, maybe your mom adore you too much, not that she was not adore by her family, it is just that your mom might be a very showy person of her adoration with her love ones and you. My mom call me and my sister with a lot of nicknames, and call us to our real names when she is very angry... tsk!tsk!tsk! You don't know how scared we were when she cal us by our names, so I guess just like you we better endure it a little than limit our privilege here in our own house. God bless. Heheheh you are such a funny cat!

I suppose you could be right and I do enjoy having my ears scratched. I guess I shouldn't complain too much. It could be much worse.

LindaCPearson wrote on March 26, 2015, 10:04 AM

I know. I should just be happy that my mom does love me so much and forgive all her silly name-calling!

LindaCPearson wrote on March 26, 2015, 11:23 AM

Hi Ruby. So nice to hear from you. I guess dogs have the same name-calling problems as cats do. I guess it is a part of life and actually my life is really good other than for the names.

Dear Mildred,

Oh, it just keeps getting worser and worser! You deserve more chicken treats for being subjected to such embarrassment. I'll see what I can do.

Sincerely, Guiness the Cat

Dear Linda Dolly Dimples Wimples,

What is it with the name-calling? You humans can be so silly, especially with more intelligent species, like cute kitties. If nothing else, stick to Precious or Princess or something else that's at least an accurate description. You owe Mildred more chicken treats for this outrage.

Indignantly, Guiness the Cat who is not a Pupcake

Mildred, Bunny here. Kitty moms are not the only ones that do that. Doggie moms do to. At times besides Bunny Boo Boo I am Silly Bun Bun or Bunny Wunny.

WordChazer wrote on March 26, 2015, 4:23 PM

It's the rhyming of the words, Mildred. We had a cat called Fudge, who every now and again would be addressed as Fudgie-Wudgie. And yes, the withering stare of contempt was just as strong as you can imagine.

LindaCPearson wrote on March 26, 2015, 4:40 PM

I think you're right about the rhyming words - it just makes it so much easier to make up these silly names my mom calls me all the time!

BarbRad wrote on March 26, 2015, 5:16 PM

I guess I have always addressed our cats by their proper names, even when they were kittens.

Feisty56 wrote on March 26, 2015, 5:34 PM

At least these additional names are sweet and fun-loving. Believe me, there are lots of names that humans assign to others that are anything but.

LindaCPearson wrote on March 26, 2015, 8:45 PM

Dear Guiness - The names do get worser and worser but I guess I shouldn't complain. Other than the name calling, everything else, including my chicken treats, are really good. I'm trying my best to over look this problem with my mom.

LindaCPearson wrote on March 26, 2015, 8:48 PM

Dear Pupcake the Indignant - not to worry - Mildred Silly Dilly Kitty Witty has already had two servings of chicken treats today, just like she has every day.

Sincerely, Mildred the Cat's mom

If I am not mistaken, we have our nicknames to avoid us from sickness.

Dear Milly Boo,

Sometimes you just have to deal with the fact that humans are only human.

Sincerely, Guiness the Sweet Punkin

lol I guess you will just have to learn to live with all those little signs of love if you want to keep the chicken coming, :)

trufflehunter wrote on March 27, 2015, 12:33 PM

I think you are simply too cute that's why your mom gets a little carried away with your nicknames :)

LindaCPearson wrote on March 27, 2015, 1:09 PM

I think you could be right. I am very cute, everyone says so, and my mom tells me about a gazillion times a day!

Dear Bunny - I see you've got the same problem as I do. Silly Bun Bun, very similar to Mildred Silly Dilly. I guess that means your mom loves you as much as mine loves me and can't help herself.!! Sending high fives your way.

j2jworkz wrote on March 28, 2015, 7:45 AM

Do what you need to do Mildred!

trufflehunter wrote on April 2, 2015, 4:19 AM

You see? And that cute translates into dozens of other names for you!

bestwriter wrote on April 8, 2015, 11:46 PM

Listen Milly, Willy Silly. You are not the only one even we humans are never called by our christened name. How about calling William Ted or Bill. My neighbour's christened name is Alexander but they call him Chintu. So relax Milly, Willy, Silly and accept your fate emoticon

LindaCPearson wrote on April 9, 2015, 9:56 AM

I'm trying very hard to endure with class and sophisitication the indignities we cats often are faced with. I do have a very good life so I'm not complaining too much!

bestwriter wrote on April 9, 2015, 10:17 AM

And lastly only those who are loved dearly get all those names (hugs)

rosepetal wrote on April 12, 2015, 2:52 PM

You are so right Mildred, us humans do have a tendency to go off the deep end when we love our animals. Just think of it as an obvious hazard when you are around loving humans.

Firecracker wrote on April 15, 2015, 9:41 PM

Wish I could help you Mildred, but with being a human I tend to do the same thing with my four legged babies! lol

Thanks for the kind words anyhow. Being human, I guess you're also doing the best that you can!

Poor Mildred. :) I will have to ask how my dog feels about it--though I think the worst I call her aside from her name is "Sweetie-weetie". ;)
