No Corned Beef and Cabbage for Me

I had every intent on going to a dinner to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a social group I joined from last year. In fact, last year was the first event that I attended with this group.

Once I got back from my library and grocery store excursion, it was about 1:30 p.m. (I found that the library did not open until 1:00 on Saturdays.) After I put away the things needing refrigerated, I had to get a nap. I do not sleep well most nights.

I set my alarm for 3:45 p.m. so I could be on time. I also thought to leave a note on the website that I may not make it or I would be late.

I do not even remember the alarm going off. I woke up about 8:00 p.m. and laid back down and was up again at midnight. That pattern continued until 8:00 this morning. I obviously needed sleep.

This morning, I have a headache and a major backache. I hope that I am not coming down with something and that it's just because I laid in bed for 18 hours.

I will have to go out and see if I can find a Reuben sandwich somewhere. I really am in the mood for corned beef.

You most certainly must have needed the sleep!

It does sound like you really needed the sleep, hope you are feeling better after getting up and moving around

I suppose I did! Now I need a massage for being in bed so long. LOL

Thank you. I hesitate going outside. It's COLD!

It happens sometimes. I remember last year a Saturday where i woke up at 5 p.m. after sleeping all night and day! When the body needs rest, it needs its rest! lol

If only I might have slept the whole time through! LOL

This post reminds me of my youth when life was hard. My mother would cook a can of corned beef and would toss in a head of cabbage, shredded to bits. That would feed her family of 4 boys who were all voracious eaters.

I remember the first time I ate canned corned beef, when I was living in Hawaii in the late 1970s. I could stomach it, though I could not take the Spam.
Thankfully, fresh corned beef is easy to get here in the US.

Mothers do have a way of extending meals to serve us all. I was the eldest of five children.

When you gotta sleep, you gotta sleep. I've also done the "just a short nap" that turned into an 11-hour deep sleep. I need to listen to my body more.

I would be unable to move if I stayed in bed that long. You must have really been overtired.
