30-Day Song Challenge, Day 28 - A Song that Makes You Feel Guilty

I thought this song challenge would be pretty hard to do, because I couldn’t figure out anything bad that I have done that I would feel guilty about. I do drive pretty fast, sometimes, so Sammy Hagar’s “I Can’t Drive 55” might be applicable, except, well…I don’t really feel guilty about it. To me, that’s more of a theme song than a castigation. Heh.
However, I figured out that I could feel guilty about something I HAVEN’T done, too. I’m not taking good enough care of myself. Too much time on the computer has made my butt bigger, and I need to get more exercise, but I’m having a hard time staying motivated. So I try to watch shows like The Biggest Loser, and while that show can be very inspiring, it’s still a TV show, which means I’m usually sitting on the couch watching it, sometimes with a snack.
Oy.
So the theme song from The Biggest Loser, “Proud” by Heather Small, in which Ms. Small asks, “What have you done today to make you feel proud?” makes me feel guilty, unless I have actually done a workout or eaten a lot of veggies or something. I’m not sure guilt is a real strong motivator, though. And besides, pride is a sin, right? Well, I feel better now.
Watch video for "Proud", also the theme for the 2012 London Olympics!

I don't personally feel guilty, but I sort of feel remotely guilty for people in the situation. Cats in the cradle. Such a sad song, and one that I almost fear when I have a family.

Oh yes, that's a good one. I know what you mean by "remotely guilty", too. I often feel embarrassed on other people's behalf, as well. I think it's good that we can be empathetic.

I watched a couple of seasons of "The Biggest Loser" about ten years ago, but I stopped because so many of the contestants were mean back-stabbers, and I prefer to watch nice people, or people who at least wrestle with their consciences a little more than that. I do like the song, though. I actually downloaded it several years ago - it was a great addition to my workout mix on my iPod!
