Looking forward to an extra $300

I have been doing freelance work for my ex company for a few years now.

Initially, I charged only $100+ per assignment. It would vary based on length.

As the work got steadier, trust developed and with inflation, my flat fee became $300.

Gradually, all assignments became urgent ones and because I literally had to cut all social activities for a week to rush out a single piece, I think this rate is fair.

As an ex-staff, I am familiar with their software and procedures. I also know what is expected.

It is cheaper for them getting me to do it than hiring a full-timer too.

And it gradually got easier with time so that I am now sometimes able to churn out assignments within a few days.

I just submitted another assignment and am now happily waiting for my $300. It would more than cover my income tax.

It's a pity these assignments come only a few times a year. If I had them every week, I might not be writing so much online.

That's good business for you AND them.

It must be a bit of a pressure cooker when it comes, but the check must be nice when it comes, too.

That sure does sound like good pay to me. I don't see any chances of ever earning that from writing. One thing I'm not fond of is working with deadlines so I avoid taking on personal clients and assignments, which is where the better money is.

Well done not only for getting the payment, but also being able to understand that what you do is worth a decent payment.

So true, if you can have these assignments at least a couple of times a months it would be beautiful.

Since both parties are satisfied, this is a good business arrangement.

Exactly! Not enough to quit my job but it would supplement my savings for investment perfectly.

That sounds like a real work at home job. Could you offer similar services to other companies? If you wanted more work that is.

It's good that you are able to get these assignments, even though they're only a few times a year. Hopefully, you may be able to get them more often.

Glad you will be getting some extra money soon. It always helps

Wow, that would be a nice weekly income, for only one assignment a week!

It's good that they know who to come to for rush jobs. Good for both of you. They benefit from the speed, you get the money. That sounds like a win-win to me.

You never top up your CPF to lock in your money and reduce income tax? My income tax this year is only $50.
