Flitting Around from Site to Site and Writing Far into the Night

In case you've missed me, I have been trying to keep up with some new ventures lately. Most of them involve writing something. I am committed to one post each day for my Capturing the Paso Robles Area with My Camera blog, since to be in the Daily City Photo Blog network I must post once each day. That post is often written after midnight for posting on the same day, or just before midnight and scheduled to post at 12:30 AM. (And I earned my first penny from that blog last night.)

Next, I started posting to Seekyt to see if it would bring in some cash through affiliate sales. Now that I've posted three articles in the past eight days, I no longer need to have my posts moderated. I am trying to establish a body of work there for residual income, but that also means being social there and gaining followers and increasing visibility. All that takes time.

On Monday an unexpected opportunity came my way. I discovered that a group of former Squidoo RocketMoms I used to work with all the time had started a group blog that reviews products. It's just the kind of site I've needed for posting all my old Squidoo lenses that really don't fit the themes for any of my blogs. They had one spot left for a weekly contributor, and they let me have it. I spent most of Tuesday reworking one of my old lenses to get it posted before I went to bed. Then I did my regular blog post. I got to bed a little before 4 AM, but I got it all done.

Part of reworking the lens for the blog was checking to see that instructions I gave for customizing the product on Zazzle were still accurate after some site changes there in how products are created. So I used my instructions to create a new product. Before I had finished, I had created a clock, a mug and a deck of playing cards with the image I've used as my photo above. It's an image I like very much.

While I was very busy writing, the gardener came, and I had to escape so I went to Smart and Final to shop and use the time to also take some photos to feed my blog. I wasn't sure what to take pictures of until I started to drive past a nursery that went out of business and has been deserted for a couple of years now, at least. It looked so lonesome, I thought I'd take my photos there.

I parked and started walking around the block to try to get photos from each side. It made me sad to see what condition this once beautiful place that had been so full of life had fallen into. It still had some giant oak trees in its lot and I wanted to get their pictures. As I walked past on the final turn around the block, I saw someone inside the fence. I asked if she could let me in and she did. We got talking and found we had a lot in common, so it was a nice social break from my routine.

Back at home I found my husband driving in at the same time. I had a full camera and lots more to write, so I got right to work until we took a pizza break later on. Then I wrote until I finished my commitments for today. I'm pretty contented with all I accomplished.

The only thing that went very wrong was that I had looked at the wrong Tuesday on my calendar to check my physical therapy appointment I thought was at 1:45. (That was another appointment on the previous Tuesday.) I discovered when I checked again at 12:30, my appointment had been at 10:45. The office had also written the phone number for my reminder call wrong by a digit, so they never got the call through. I've rescheduled for next week. I really need to get there because I can hardly walk now.

I'll try to catch up with your posts here as much as possible as soon as possible. In addtion I need to do some Pinterest promotion today because the wee small hours when no one is watching is not a good time. I also have to read and comment on several other blogs. It's not the writing that's hard. It's the marketing.

Have you taken on any new projects lately?

Wondered what happened to you. Glad to hear you're keeping busy.

You're a busy lady as always! I'm sorry to learn you missed your physical therapy appointment this week, but with all you're doing, it isn't any wonder that you got the appointment times mixed up a bit.

Does getting married count? Tell you about it after Saturday.

AngelSharum wrote on March 18, 2015, 7:49 PM

Glad to hear all your new ventures seem to be working out so far. Good luck with them. I love photographing old, run down/closed down places.

CalmGemini wrote on March 18, 2015, 11:47 PM

Glad about all the new projects. But are you getting enough rest? Hope next time you do not miss the physical therapy.

Dawnwriter wrote on March 19, 2015, 12:07 AM

You keep yourself very busy but do take care of your health. I feel we put in far too much effort in our online work than the benefits we get out of it.

You have been busy! But do try to slow down enough to get some rest and stay on track with your physical therapy.

With so many beautiful spring days, Guiness the Cat has kept me outside on photo shoots. I've probably got way more jonquil shots than I will ever need, but they're so pretty this year, and I think many of them would make good greeting cards. Anyway, that's been the only thing in bloom until the last couple days or so. Now the yellow bells and the Bradford pears are coming out. (So is the pine pollen. Yuck!) It's supposed to rain for a couple of days, so that should keep me at my desk more, and hopefully wash some of the pollen out of the air. My eyes are itching like crazy.

I must say that you are really ambitious with all of your writing and photo ventures. I could never do it because I am not that driven. My wife and granddaughter also want me to pay more attention to them. Good luck and success with all of your writing.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:06 AM

That's putting it mildly.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:07 AM

I really felt like an idiot, especially since the pain often makes it hard to sleep.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:08 AM

I should say it certainly does count. Looking forward to hearing about it.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:10 AM

I'm afraid I'l have to post those photos on my blog. I just have too full a photo gallery here to manage it now.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:11 AM

Thank you. May God bless you in your studies.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:13 AM

No. I'm not getting enough rest. But if I don't wait until I'm almost dead on my feet before going to bed, my pain in my knee will keep me awake.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:13 AM

You have a very good point there.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:16 AM

The flowers really show off Guiness's fur. I wish we would get some rain. Our grass will be brown again at this rate.

BarbRad wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:17 AM

Enjoy your wife and granddaughter while you can. I don't have any family except my husband, and he's as busy as I am.

CalmGemini wrote on March 19, 2015, 5:03 AM

Don't know what to say.See what Dawnwriter has said.

FreyaYuki wrote on March 19, 2015, 6:50 AM

Good luck with getting everything done. It can be hard with so many things to do, it's like you don't have enough time to do everything that you want to. It's also hard to try and post at least once a day on your blogs. Am trying to do the same with mine. I agree with you though - it's not the writing that's hard. It's definitely all the marketing and promotion and sharing, etc. There's also the lack of time to write as much as you want to.

iwrite28 wrote on March 19, 2015, 7:02 AM

Wow! That is a lot of work you're getting done each day! Lots of work, but sounds very interesting.

AngelSharum wrote on March 19, 2015, 4:49 PM

What is the link to your blog?

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on March 19, 2015, 5:15 PM

This is Guiness the Cat. I do look good in yellow, don't I?

BarbRad wrote on March 20, 2015, 8:32 PM

Exactly. And I can't hide my head in the sand much longer about tax deadlines rapidly approaching. I'm going to have to remove myself from all but my commitment blogs and start sorting paper.

BarbRad wrote on March 20, 2015, 8:33 PM

I have to take opportunities where I find them. Opportunity doesn't always knock when it's convenient.

BarbRad wrote on March 20, 2015, 8:39 PM

I don't think we are allowed to post those links here. The name of it is "Capturing the Paso Robles Area with My Camera." If you Google that you can probably kind a link. I love getting new readers. I also love to see some fresh faces popping up in my followers section at the top. It makes me feel less lonely.
