30-Day Song Challenge, Day 24 - A Song that You Want to Play at Your Funeral

The title makes me laugh, because even though it’s technically correct, it sounds like I’m going to play the song, which makes it less of a funeral. In any case, I feel like I wouldn’t want to have something that made people cry. If they are sad because they miss me, they will cry, anyway; there’s no sense in torturing them. I like to make my friends laugh, but playing a funny song would probably be a little tacky, although to have everyone whistle along to “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” would be freakin’ AWESOME. But a song that refers to death would also be too obvious, so “Dead Man’s Party”, “Funeral for a Friend” or “See You on the Other Side” are out--sorry Oingo Boingo, Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne.

I think the best course of action would be to play an uplifting song, a song that brings joy. Not some cheesy crap like “I Believe I Can Fly”, but a song you can dance to. Maybe a song you can dance to that starts out quiet and soars to a gospel crescendo, along with a jammin’ beat. Something that people from my generation will know and remember fondly from their developing years.

I wanna play “Like a Prayer” by Madonna at my funeral!!!!

Listen to "Like a Prayer"

Here's the last one, in case you missed it!

If you are going to the funeral of your enemy, what songs will you play?

Hmm that's tough. It's supposed to be my funeral right? I would go for "I will follow you". Lol! The lyrics goes like this " I will follow you, follow you wherever you may go". I bet, the attendees would find it creepy to sing a song that says they will follow me wherever I may go. :D

HA HA! That's an awesome question. Oingo Boingo has a song called "Goodbye, Goodbye" that's very uptempo that might be good if you were happy somebody was gone. Also maybe "Goodbye to You" by Patty Smyth and Scandal, here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_50-gOeBilc

That would be a GREAT question for your next song challenge!

At my funeral, I want Nora Jones singing " Come away with me" and also something by Santana, but I can´t think of the title now, but it´s very Latino and uplifting to leave the service to.

I love that song! Hopefully, it won't make people think you want them to hop into the casket with you emoticon :winking:

My nearest and dearest will know it´s because I always think of my late hubby when I hear it, and will be with him when they do.
