We will always come for you!

I spent many years living in a family house. I shared the 16 room house with my sister and her husband and 2 kids. My mom lives there as well. I loved it. My nephew who is now 16 was going on a sleep over. He was 6 at the time. Both my sisters kids have never really been sleep over kids. They have always liked to sleep in their own beds. So Chase was having a sleep over at a friends house. It was the first time there. We have known these people since they were young. We all grew up together. Sure enough we get the call at 8 that he wanted to come home. My sister had a foster kid for the night doing respite so she could not leave as her husband was working. So that left me. I got in my car and drove the 20 minutes to the friends house. I walk in the door and there he is in his jammies watching a movie with the family. The look on his face when I walked in was priceless. You could see the relief that he knew he was going home. It looked like they were having fun. He was enjoying his visit. But for some reason he wanted to be home. We got his stuff and put him in his booster seat. On the ride home he kept saying thank you for coming to get him. I told him no matter what or where we will always come and get him. He would never be so far away that family would not be there. He has slept over that friends house other nights as well as many other friends. For some reason he was homesick and that is just fine. One thing he remembered was family always comes for family. Even not at 16 he knows he can call no matter what or where! I love that kid!

They can think they are so grown up at times, then suddenly want home again. Thinking about that I sometimes still do want to go back home to safety.

I cannot imagine living in such a big house. Over here, 3 bedrooms apartment is considered big.
