CGPGallery Closes Its Doors?

Looks like CGPgallery has officially closed its' doors.

Just out of curiosity I went over to visit my account on cpggallery, apparently the "Account Is Suspended" Notice is their way of closing down?

I did a trial run at CGP in the beginning of the year. Many, including myself, had speculated it looked sketchy from the beginning. As the exodus from the B began, I decided to try it mainly because many of my peeps were already there from the B and it was an easy transition. I know we all kept a skeptical eye.

I posted until I earned the minimum and stopped as I awaited to see if payment would be made to those who had already 'earned' their payouts.

Doubt it is a surprise to many or most, no monies were reported to have been paid since a few I'd say interesting testimonials in late 2014.

As usual, I feel bad for the posters who really thought they would be paid. I know it is buyers beware, but this is a story which seems to play out consistently of late.

Hope they enjoyed my $20!

Maybe this is something 'legal' under the laws of Bangladesh? Quite a few people were excited about it, even though it seemed to be a carbon copy of early iterations of the "other site," except that it wasn't governed by U.S. law. Many others were left askance and took a "wait and see" attitude. I suspect you are correct in that it's "shut down." Although, I suppose, it is possible that the entire site is being revamped/upgraded, that the servers are down, or something else. People will just have to wait and see I guess.

True, who knows? If its' permanent, at least those who are holding out hope for payment will have their definitive answer.

It looks like the site is gone. It is not possible tp open their page, I only get a message saying "This account has been suspended". I haven't spent much time there, but I feel bad for the people who have spent their time on the site,

erikalui wrote on March 10, 2015, 11:00 AM

Yes, even I checked the site and noticed users on FB complaining about its closure. Luckily I had just $7.5 in my account which I would let go off as I earned that pretty fast and did not invest much time in the website.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 11:07 AM

not sure I understood exactly why people were still posting since end of Jan, but some just for the fun and some really thought they'd be paid.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 11:08 AM

It was quick to "earn" there, but as we know, "earning" and actually receiving funds are entirely different.

MaeLou wrote on March 10, 2015, 11:18 AM

I knew it wouldn't last long. I'm not surprised, really.

iimouto wrote on March 10, 2015, 11:42 AM

I'm not surprised at all. They were almost an exact copy of Bubblews... they didn't even bother to make their own layout. Any site who doesn't even put in the efforts to make their own layout can't be trusted, in my opinion.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 11:58 AM

They were a very close replica indeed.

nbaquero wrote on March 10, 2015, 12:08 PM

j2jworkz Never trusted that site, I think that was the site started by a guy from Bangladesh, wasn't it?

MaeLou I see an opportunity to attract more members to our community.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 12:19 PM

Info was always sketchy on the owner ~ no one found much info on the person who originally identified himself as the owner.

MaeLou wrote on March 10, 2015, 12:28 PM

Some of the members that are there will likely find there way here, but there is a lot of international users that were on CGP and until we figure out which countries will be blacklisted, we'll only be accepting members from a few countries that we know are bringing us revenue.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 12:28 PM

nbaquero MaeLou there are definitely a few who would be an asset here, I do think some are burnt out after their prior experiences at other sites and maybe waiting in the wings. I can see by the member list quite a few from the B who flew in and flew out quickly ( and would be many of those inactive coins, I don't see them returning.) Promotion by anyone who has recently cashed out would attract much positive attention from the community and might entice a few whose style and vision would fit in well at PP.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 12:31 PM

MaeLou correct. Depending upon what occurs in the future re: countries, I suspect many would not be eligible.

I had considered starting an account there because I had a friend who had an account there, but when I learned that that friend had not gotten paid, I decided not to start an account there. I am so glad I did not do it.

LindaCPearson wrote on March 10, 2015, 1:12 PM

I get the same message when I try to access CGP. I'm not surprised. I had only earned about $8.00 when I realized no one was reporting being paid, so I stopped writing there.

Dawnwriter wrote on March 10, 2015, 1:35 PM

I got the same message when I tried to access CGP today but I am not surprised at all. I am glad I took down all my articles. I can only say good riddance.

SebastianOnciu wrote on March 10, 2015, 2:19 PM

I fopund this site suspicious from the very beginning, so after taking a look at it I decided not to join it, so I'm glad I didn't waste my time there.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 3:27 PM

SebastianOnciu Dawnwriter LindaCPearson LeaPea2417 well, guess if it looks like a duck, quack likes a duck and we know the rest. Lots of ducks out there!

Gina145 wrote on March 10, 2015, 5:31 PM

I did the same thing as you did, but I've been reading comments about this on another site, with some claiming to have lost as much as $200. I'm surprised that anyone who had already been cheated at Bubblews would take the same risks on an unproven site.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 7:38 PM

Gina145 am slightly surprised too, though I could tell from a few of whom I found reputable (from B then to CGP), they had joined earlier than I (probably mid Dec) and then posted through Jan and were more active with a larger base, so I could see them being out 80$ + .

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on March 10, 2015, 7:50 PM

I'm sorry to hear about that. I never joined, but I had several B friends who did. When I went to read their posts, I was never impressed enough by the look and feel of the site to do much research into it. It just never really looked professional. At the moment I've got my hands full trying to build content and views here as well as get my blogs to the point where there are bringing in income. In the current market of writing sites, I'm kind of glad I don't have time to try out new ones.

pinkCardigangirl wrote on March 10, 2015, 8:03 PM

I popped in over there today too. I saw the same screen. I don't write there anymore. I gave it a 30 day trial to see if they were legit and then stopped. I guess now we know.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 9:17 PM

Sounds like a wise plan long term. I know a large part of my liking cgp, though not the design etc, was reconnecting w a few of the fun peeps who had left the B too.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 9:18 PM

We do indeed! Trial periods are wise these days.

SoundNFury wrote on March 10, 2015, 10:05 PM

Yep, I found out about this today too. Not surprising at all. Seems to be a trend lately. I guess the exodus from the B made it open season for scams.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 10:24 PM

I just ran into another c!one today, funny no one bothers to change the basic square design.

j2jworkz wrote on March 10, 2015, 10:50 PM

Yes the last few times I peeked in was mostly those type of posts.

allen0187 wrote on March 10, 2015, 10:58 PM

Never tried this site but I did hear about it. Like you I feel bad for the people who took the time to be active in this site but didn't get paid. i heard they have an interesting story as to what happened to their funds.

CoralLevang wrote on March 11, 2015, 12:19 AM

What a shame that, yet, another site has gone by the way side. It really is up to all of us to help make this site a success.

j2jworkz wrote on March 11, 2015, 12:22 AM

I agree. It is a collaborative effort .

Dawnwriter wrote on March 11, 2015, 12:48 AM

j2jworkz oh no ducks are very nice creatures. These websites and their CEOs are truly a breed apart.

FreyaYuki wrote on March 11, 2015, 8:16 AM

Sorry about the money that you lost emoticon  I wonder if you can get that back somehow? As for the site- I took a look at it before but never joined. Wasn't really impressed by it plus it did look kind of suspicious since there wasn't much info on it. Checking out its TOS also threw a red flag.

zabelle51 wrote on March 11, 2015, 11:10 AM

lol I had less faith and left when I had $14 in my account. I knew I would never see it. :)

j2jworkz wrote on March 11, 2015, 12:21 PM

I just wanted to make an even "payout" $20 so I can start the year off with a loss :)

scheng1 wrote on March 12, 2015, 8:26 AM

It is clear right from the start that they are scammers. They promise a rate that is too high to be true.
