Bullying at work

Well I am aggravated.

I get a call from my work place about 15 minutes after I woke up. At the time frame that they called me, I knew that it was not my department calling. I work as a stock clerk and so any calls to me in regards to them would be made at 10:00 or later in the evening.

When I answer the phone, one of the assistant customer service people tell me that I have to work up front. That is not my department anymore and I was told by the manager of the store no less, that I had nothing to worry about in regards to that.

He had told me this in regards to me telling him that if I had to be pushed back to that department for any length of time, I would just be quitting.

I decided to call the representative that helps us work out work relations. We are not a union company. There are no work unions. So we have reps that are supposed to help us out. I called and left a message. The only problem now is that I will be going into work and I believe the manager whom assaulted me over the phone will be there.

I will avoid her as much as possible, and hopefully be able to hide behind my manager over my department. What I mean is, hopefully I can quickly tell him what is going on and he can stand between if necessary. That is not what I want to happen.

I will be talking to the manager of the store when he comes in the following morning. I believe he should be the opening manager. I will tell him what she said to me, and I will also let him know that I already took this above his head. I will not be harrassed, I will not be bullied.

Even if it means the detriment of my career at this establishment.

Certainly not the situation anyone wants to be in. I'm sorry to hear that you have to deal with it. I hope that you will be able to solve this problem soon, and with the least amount of problems.

This sounds bad. Try to keep your cool and always remember this: You cannot control how others act but you can control how you react"

It seems to me that everyone in management are not corroborating and collaborating with each other as a team. One department is not communicating what the other is working at. There is nothing worse than lack of communication than misunderstanding. Due to the fact that the lack of communication is non existent, I am not surprised. However, there is a lack of respect as well at this place of business because no one deserves to be yelled at, EVER.

I have faced up to such bosses before myself - with varying degrees of success - good luck and I hope the management and other staff back you up - such behaviour has no place in the modern age - be brave

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply. The situation was taken care of amicably. The lady that assaulted me is having quite a hard time in her department now because of so many changes, and so many new and younger hires that have no idea what they are doing. However that is no longer my concern, I'm happy in the department I want to be in :)

Very wise advice. I did keep my cool but was quite stern as well.
