This is a short but heartfelt salute to all women on their day. Happy International Women’s Day 2015 (IWD).

Due to its importance, each year United Nations declares a theme for the IWD celebration. This year’s theme is:

“Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!”

So, to all women out there especially the ones that are part of , thanks for everything you do, for your sacrifices, for your courage and determination. Enjoy your day!

LeaPea2417 I think the role of women has been overlooked, but it is good to see something is being done to correct it.

Sarosh It is also an opportunity to highlight what women have done for humanity.

Erikalui thanks for stopping by, I know India is a country of high contrasts when it comes to women. In spite of that many Indian women are well known in the world because of their contributions in several fields.

It has been shown that every community in which women and girls are protected and supported, rather than devalued and endangered, enjoys a better quality of life for everyone--men and boys, as well!

AliCanary I didn't know that, but is not difficult to see why.

My daughter learned about this day via something she saw online. I have never heard of this before a few days ago when I saw another post on here about it. There have been a lot of empowering women out there that have changed the world. I do not think I will ever be one of them but hopefully I have made my children and friends lives better in some way and that's good enough for me.

One of my favorite quotes is : “You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.” And when women are educated, it raises the quality of life for their men as as well. (you have to be a citizen of third world country to understand this)

shaggin83 Being a mother and taking care of your kids is empowering enough, glad you found out about this day, and hope you actually have a great IWD!

dawnwriter I come from a country that could be considered a 3rd World Country, so I understand the quote meaning and its value! Thanks for sharing.
