Don't feel guilty for not going to church

I grew up in a community where we walked to the local church. The activities that took place in the building her an important part of my life. I listened for more than 4 decades to everyone saying you have to be in church on Sunday. I know know different. At the time Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the Hebrews,(10:25) there were no church buildings. Early believers were not welcome in the synagogue , because the religious leaders did not want to hear that Jesus was the Messiah. Church buildings were nto erected until Constantine gave the order around 323 A.D. There is no way Paul was telling the Hebrews to do something that was not even conceived at that point. The first believers met in their homes. Read the book of Acts, and research history to see for yourself. And never let anyone cause you to feel guilty because you did not go to church on Sunday. Hebrews 3;13 says we are to encourage each other daily, not just once a week.

I do agree with you on this. Jesus said "when two or more are gathered together , I am in their midst",,, to me that says,, just a handful of Christians can get together any place whether it be in a park or someone's living room and study God's word and worship and that is Church.

I never felt guilty for not going to church and even though I believe in Jesus, God and all, my wife and I do not follow any established religion.

My friends and family members used to make me feel guilty for not going to church but I always believed that God is within everyone and not only in the Church. I am a Catholic but I believe in all Gods and don't give any preference to any religion but believe only in humanity. I was criticized by my friend when I said I don't go to Church every Sunday and she said "God forgive her for her sins" which hurt me a lot. The next day I saw her laughing and mocking a physically handicapped man.

I am guilty of nit going to a church because i still have a library and professorial work during Sundays. Too bad, i did not attend to listen praise and worship songs.
