Happiness In A Box - Blast From The Past

This is the first of my series, read the full post here, .

Back in the day, there are things that as a child, I look forward to during the weekends.

There's sleeping late. There's better desserts and better meals. There's the trip to the mall. There's Sunday service at Church. There's Saturday morning cartoons. Perhaps, my most awaited 'event', there's the weekly trip to the fastfood joint to purchase a meal with a toy. Ahhhh... such happy memories. I remember I would save a part of my allowance to purchase these meals solely because of the toys that they had. Back then, collecting these toys were all the fad. The toys were unique, of good quality, and really collectibles.

That was then... this is now... and the same cannot be said. Of course, once in awhile these fast food joints will come up with a really good line of toys like the Justice League or even Disney classics like Monsters, Inc and Toy Story. Most recently, after coming from muay thai training, I had no intention of buying any meal but then I saw the toys that one particular fastfood has to offer... Transformers!!! So without thinking twice, I had bought two meals to get two toys!!! Talk about impulsive buys!!!

Anyway, I didn't bought the toys just merely for the toys... I bought them because of the good memories that I remember with my previous toys.

So my fellow PPers, what were your favorite 'freebies' from back in the day?

Feel free to chime in.

I seldom hear a kid wanted to take a nap or sleep. When I was a kid it was torture for me when my parents asked me to take a nap. Same thing with my kids now. :)

None! Lol! I just buy food to satisfy my hunger in a cheaper price, and yes McDonalds is one of the fast food chains I can afford, plus jollibee and KFC. God bless an thank you for sharing.

I certainly enjoyed pandering to my son's desires for these toys when he was a child. (We still have a box of them). I felt awful about him eating that food, though, lol! Only once a week!

The joy in a child's eyes when he/she opens the box to get the toy inside is priceless!!!
