30-Day Song Challenge, Day 12 - A Song from a Band You Hate

This was a particularly challenging day, because there is no band that I hate. Even my least favorite song was by a band I actually like http://personapaper.com/article/25001-30-day-song-challenge-day-two---your-least-favorite-song . There are, however, a very small number of musical styles that I don't care for and therefore don't listen to--if I can help it. Every now and then, a song makes it onto the pop charts and ends up on the stations I normally listen to. Thank goodness for radio presets, because whenever a dreadful song comes on, I can banish that sucker by switching to another station.

I like to rock out and I can go hard (Tool, Nine Inch Nails and Ozzy, for example), but I don't like death metal because even if I could understand the lyrics, I couldn't sing along for fear of damaging myself. Punk is pretty much the same. And although I like both hiphop and trance, triphop leaves me cold. Love blues with a passion but can't stand the meandering rambling of freestyle jazz (fie on you, Ornette Coleman!). And I like a smidgen of contemporary country (Lady Antebellum and those crossover girls, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, and Faith Hill), but the twangy stuff is just too much.

Speaking of twangy, a band I can't stand to listen to is Florida-Georgia Line, or Georgia-Florida line or whatever. Good grief, they are so twangy it's like listening to someone yodel through their nose. I can just picture them good ol' boys taking a verse between spits off a big ol' chaw of terbacky. So the song "Cruise" can't be saved by the last-minute edition of Nelly. He was an asset in Tim McGraw's song "Over and Over", but that was a tolerable song. "Cruise" is just flat -out french-fried pertaters, know whut ah mean?

Listen to Cruise - it's the remix, with Nelly, at least

Here's the last one, in case you missed it!

I believe the country band you don't like is the Florida-Georgia Line. I've never heard their music, and I hope I never do!

NO argument from me. I unfortunately heard them once without knowing who they were. Once informed, I made a vow to impale myself on dull rusty nails before ever being subjected to THAT torture again. To paraphrase Robbie Fulks, Florida-Georgia is grand -- the states, not the band.

An auto-tuned country song.....yuck!

By the way, "Accidental Racist" from a couple years ago was atrocious, too. I like the idea, but actual song was horrible and so badly put together.
