A Quiet Night at the Library

I've been working from the library for the last couple of hours, and it has gotten quieter and quieter in here. It's not quiet because it's a library, it's quiet because of the weather. It's been raining all day, but now the ice and snow are creeping in, and folks are creeping out, wanting to get home where it is safe. I'm getting ready to pack it in pretty soon, myself. I need to go down to my little house and get the water dripping a little from the tap. It's supposed to get down to 20 degrees tonight, and I don't want the pipes to freeze.
Did you know that letting the tap drip a small but steady amount of water can keep the pipes in your house from freezing up? Some people didn't know that, so I thought I would share.

I was just comparing your life to mine - a library does not feature in my life. I hardly read any books leave alone going to the library!

While I read voraciously (one book every two days), I rarely go to the public library anymore.

I didn't know that until I read it read. Not that it snows here in Manila and our pipes freeze.

Hot water freezes faster than cold water also. Sounds strange but true.

AliCanary good tip at the end of your post. Libraries are a good place to work if you really need to focus.

I love the library--it's a wonderful resource for the community! Our library branches are really cool, too--the one near me has a 3-D printer!

I think the library is a precious community resource, and I support t it as much as I can. I donate books, too!

I can believe that. The only time we had a burst pipe was the outside tap that never worked right anyway. We have had it disconnected for the last few years so that it won't happen again until we've had a chance to get the professionals in to look at it.

The pipes in my home are insulated, so I don't have to worry about leaving a drip when it gets cold. Different story at work, though - we had an incident earlier this year when they froze, and my manager has been a little paranoid about it ever since, lol.
