Stop using dogs to scare your elephants

If a zoo must hold animals captive without possibility of parole, as a result of some crime committed by the captive ones I suppose, then the least they could do is not scare the ever-livin' daylights out of them.

The Pittsburgh Zoo finds it necessary to herd its elephants. However, using dogs to herd those elephants is cruel indeed.

The United States Department of Agriculture ordered the zoo to stop using the dogs to herd pachyderms, but Pittsburgh zoo continues the practice. (The USDA is really a winner in the ineffective category.)

The dogs are at risk, humans are at risk and the elephants are at risk as a result of this elephant-herding method used by the zoo.

If Pittsburgh Zoo would stop messing around with dogs and elephants, perhaps they would learn that there are safer, and more humane methods, to herd elephants.

A caretaker at the zoo has observed the dogs biting the elephants. The dogs also growl and lunge at the elephants.

Pittsburgh Zoo is the only zoo that uses dogs to herd elephants. Wake up and smell the coffee Pittsburgh Zoo

I feel sad when I read stories like this. I was just beginning to believe that zoos were looking after their animals properly these days.

Why have zoos, your country is huge so why aren't they in a massive safari park ?

That sounds terrible. I heard that elephants don't like crossing or going near chillis, maybe that's another way to help the boundaries.

Holy crap, that's so obnoxious. The Pittsburgh Zoo was kind of my hometown zoo (closest thing, anyway), so I'm very embarrassed about this. Does PETA know about it? They'd raise a good stink over it.

Sounds atrocious but I guess it will take time for people to wake up.

I hate those people! I thought Zoo people is an animal lover, taming their bigger friendly animals in love and right care. There is a patrol citizen in our country that reports a very wicked man with his wicked snake pet (they are really matched!), the small feral kitten where being trap and become food for the snake, and they really put the live chicken in the cage, and you will see in the video how the kittens run for their lives up to the tree and they were screaming, and the evil man gets a stick to push them back to the snake! I really feel bad about them. ANd I pray that the evil owner and his montrous pets live together in nothingness! and never came back here. I think the government confiscated the big snake and punished the owner. He is so bad.. imaine he is showing off to the whole neigborhood!
