There's SNOW place like home

I guess I will put this under "science." I'd rather put it under "Education" or even "weather" but those are not choices.

I live in North Carolina, and right now my area expects 5 to 8 inches of snow. I knew it was bound to get around to us. Lucky enough while I do work tonight, I won't have to worry about it for another few days afterwards. Howeve, our local schools had no school last week, and this week isn't off to the best start. They had school on Monday, no school on Tuesday, and a two hour delay today. I don't think they'll be going to school the rest of the week at all. Even if they can, I don't think they should.

With that being said, I believe that the teachers should have a plan ready for this. That there should be something emailed to the parents. Assignments is what I mean. For those who do not have internet, then the teacher should call the parents and give them the information over the phone. I believe that this will help keep the kids from going back to school and being restless and / or forgetting their lessons.

I know that many may think it's cruel to do that. With the snow that has swept across the nation, I believe it is more the smarter thing to do. Kids have been out of school for days, if not weeks, and their education is what is important. Not to mention that all of these missed days means a longer time until their summer vacation.

Here in New Jersey there is snow everywhere. It is staying for a long time. It has been below freezing the last few days and I do wish all cold would end.

No snow here in Manila but classes are often suspended because of typhoons. I agree that schools should prepare for this and should have something ready for their students to do to make up for these missed days.

I'd be more afraid of the typhoons. Here in the USA we lack in so many different things. The students today fall behind so much in regards to the same students in other countries. We need all the help we can get.

The only day the kids went to school this week was Monday. Friday they are off as well. We had around 8 inches of snow in some areas here. Chance of snow again tonight as well. I know in Boston there is so much snow shoveled away from walk ways etc that it could take four to five months to fall.

I think that definitely makes sense - if the teachers know snow is coming, they should plan ahead and set some work.

I like 'snow school today' more. I don't know about the children.
