How The Coconut Rescues The Cold!

My own

Hello Persona Peeps! Well, if you have been wondering where I have been in the last four days, it is because muggins has been ill with flu and a cold! It all happened on the Friday night before I wrote my last post regarding the killer-reveal on the British TV soap "Eastenders." The signs that I was not all that well started with a feeling of sinus pain in my temple just above my nose and then the most annoying dry, painful cough.

By Saturday morning, I knew I was in for a cold, or rather a bit of flu with a cold. It is always the way, isn't it? It never seems to be one or the other and I blame the weather for this completely. We had days of sunshine before that and the temperature got so warm in my home that I had to turn down my central heating and boiler. But, as soon as the weekend came along, the temperature dropped below zero celsius again, frost had appeared and the grit trucks had already been out to pebble the road.

By the afternoon, dry sneezes followed and I retired to bed earlier just to keep warm.

Naturally muggins had to go outside and turn up the boiler again!

So I have been taking it easy and doing the usual to take care of my cold. Lots of spicy foods, keeping warm, a few menthol drops on a tissue as well as in water in my Yankee Candle wax tart burner to perfume the home and clear my lungs.

The one surprise from net research is the discovery that coconut oil in a little bit of coffee or plain tea does wonders for the throat! I found one of those slide show info things online that shows "10 great uses for Coconut," or along the lines of. I knew as a child that coconut oil is great as a natural skin moisturiser as well as a great hair conditioner, and great for adding to hot cooked meals - but used in a drink? I have never heard of that before. It would appear that coconut oil eases a sore throat or a cough. Just a small teaspoon of oil is required in a hot drink. It also makes coffee taste very creamy!

It is an alternative to making cough syrup if you can't abide the usual honey and lemon taste. By Tuesday I felt a lot better, all aches and pains gone and the cold is streaming now out of me, flowing easily but the cough has now become much wetter and far easier to deal with - all because of half a teaspoon in a slightly milky coffee. Even my dry nose and lips have been treated to coconut oil to prevent them from drying out. Thanks for reading! ©Nar2Reviews2015.

That is another knowledge to add up in my vocabulary and memory, Lol! What I always do is to gargle using a warm water with salt, and drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fruits, and take a rest if I have time to rest. God bless.
