30-Day Song Challenge, Day One - Your Favorite Song

My favorite song of all time is "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" by Rod Stewart. The way the title is spelled always bugged me. Even though Americans might pronounce it that way, sometimes, we would never spell it any way other than "Do". But Rod Stewart is from England, and British people might be a bit more straightforward with their transliteration.
Anyway, this song is kind of old, so maybe some of you won't know it. It's from the 70s, and it's actually a disco song, but ever since I first heard it as a little kid, I've loved it. It's mostly owing to the synthesizer opening--that driving beat, with the keyboard melody soaring overhead that pulls you in. Rod Stewart has a very distinctive voice, and he handles it well in this song.
I'm not the only person who views this tune as a classic--it has been remade several times, notably by Paris Hilton on her debut album (I'm assuming it wasn't too hard to get the rights, since Paris is good friends with Alannah Stewart, Rod's daughter) and also recently on Glee (The Warblers, led by Darren Criss as Blaine, do a nice ensemble version), but my favorite remake is by The Revolting Cocks (yes, that's a real band), because it sounds different and because the singer changes the lyrics, just a little, in a hilariously appropriate way. By the way, all the remakes I cited use the spelling "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy", thankfully, in case you want to look them up on YouTube (the Revolting Cocks video is pretty insane--someone is a fan of Rob Zombie, I think).
So, that's my favorite song; laugh if you will, but it's stood the test of time (and yes, I had no idea what the lyrics were about when I was a kid. I just liked the music)!

Writing 500 characters on each of those songs could be tough but I will see how others do and then may be I will get encouraged. Nice challenge.

I remember this challenge from bubble ooze. Man, this was fun to do but I never got around to do it. Perhaps, now is a good time to try out this challenge. As for the, song, I had to look it up in YouTube and I do agree that the first few notes will get you hooked!

I noticed the picture wouldn't allow me to add with the new one, either. I had to add it in the text instead.

I love old songs, because my dad love to play it. But I guess my generations really love the old songs because I guess great music are will forever live on. I think this challenge will be fun but I guess I have to pass this time. God bless and have a great day. I love music and listening to it but except for the lyrics there is nothing I want to do but sing and I seldom look at its history.

I'll pick my favorite song done as collaboration between 2 great musicians: Easy lover by Phil Collins and Philip Bailey.

oh I love this challenge - but I don't think I would be able to write so much about some of the topics.
Am definitely going to check in to see how you get on with it though!

A new challenge -- hurray! I had no idea Paris Hilton sang...lol. Rod Stewart has been around for what seems like forever to me. Although never a true fan of the man, this song has a beat that pulls you in.

That's one of my songs, too! Not my favorite, but it's coming up. It's the one that reminds me of somewhere.

That song title sure is odd and weird. Interesting challenge though I think I'll pass on this one. There are so many songs I like it's hard to just pick one as a favorite so if I try this challenge, I'll be stuck on day one. LOl
