Maybe if I drink a Smoothie I can Pretend it's SPRING!

There is snow on the ground here in Michigan. Lots of snow. Even worse, they are predicting it may snow the first few days of March. Yes I know this is Michigan and it always snows at the most random of times, but after last years record breaking snow, and this years record breaking cold, I am soooo ready for Spring I can't even explain it! Last year we at least got out and played in the snow - a lot. But this year I haven't been in the mood to take my daughter out and often it has been just a bit too cold or windy anyway.

So what do we do when Spring still seems so far away? We pretend! One thing I do to feel the spring feeling is start making fruit smoothies. At least the fruit market is already selling delicious strawberries and bananas, even if the local grocery stores do not. A bunch of strawberries, a banana, 2 vanilla yogurts, apple juice and a few grapes were all I needed to make 3 servings for our family. We don't typically have this all winter, so now it tastes like spring emoticon

Other ways to "pretend" it's warmer outside include shutting all the drapes - winter isn't there if I can't see it emoticon  Or sometimes my daughter and I will do our exercises (i.e. running around the house) to warm up and not feel the chill. I also start to take on more projects around this time of year to keep busy and forget about the cold. Smoothies will help me the most though, and my daughter already requested we go back to the fruit market to get blueberries for the next smoothie :) Enjoy!!

I will have to try it myself maybe it will be spring for both of us. I love fruit smoothies but not in this cold.

This isn't as cold as I usually make it. I only put in a few ice cubes so it wasn't warm, but otherwise it's a normal fridge temp drink. In the summer I'm all about shakes with cold vanilla ice cream emoticon

My son and I make them all of the time in the summer. When it is too hot they are great meal replacements. I favor strawberry , myself.

You should get yourself a hot water bottle and make yourself or your bed all warm and toasty and pretend even more!

Hehehehehe... Actuadrink coffee at night and at noon where the sun shine so bright, my friends are really laughing at my habit, and I ate ice cream when its raining. God bless. Sometimes there are people who have habits that is not in season, Lol! And I think you are very clever and and creative to do that. Just don't catch cold.

Sounds like the most delicious suggestion that I've heard!

I often have a smoothie with dinner. It is my way of getting more fruit in my body. Glad your daughter likes them so well.

Plus they are pretty healthy - fruit, yogurt, juice, great combo :)

Ironically I actually hate being warm at bedtime :) Usually it's socks off and blanket goes on and off throughout the night (on when I get cold, off when I get hot lol)

That's a good idea and we do order them sometimes when we are out. Otherwise I save them for dessert :) I like that my daughter thinks fruit is a "treat"
