One of My Old Friends Passed Away Last Month
I should have posted this sooner, but it’s not exactly something you -want- to write about. But I guess I should post it now…
I had a specific group I hung out with during and even a few years after high school. While a bunch of us drifted, we still kept in touch from time to time via social media. One of those people in that group is someone I found out was actually a distant cousin of mine. Now unfortunately, I haven’t spoken to him or others in a while because, well...life happens. It doesn’t mean that I don’t care about them though.
On Tuesday, January 13th, 2015, I saw a Facebook post on his page -which somehow popped up into my timeline- about him being gone, followed with other people stating the same thing. It was a while since I had talked to him, but he was still an old friend and distant cousin, and it was just shocking to find out. He was also close with my younger sister (she is only about 2 ½ years younger than I am, so we had a lot of the same friends). We did attend his viewing and funeral the next week, and donated to the Go Fund Me to help his Mother with the expenses. He was only 28 years old. :(
We were not sure what was going on, but it was later confirmed that he did indeed pass away. He went to sleep the night before and never woke up. I don’t know all the details, and the details I do know, I am not sharing. It is not my place to share those details, nor is it really necessary to share them on here.
He was always a good guy, and I don’t think there was ever a time where we got into a big fight or I was truly ticked off at him. Everyone you speak to will tell you what a good guy he was, and he definitely had many friends. It’s sad, because you’re close to these people for so many years, you never really fast forward ten years or so and think that you are going to be attending one of their funerals. :(
I think I’m going to wrap this up before I start rambling, which I really don’t want to do on this post. Thank you.

My prayers go out to his mother and his friends. Such a sad thing for a young man to pass away.

It is sad for someone so young to die, whether from natural causes or otherwise. When I went to a school reunion a few years ago, I found that several schoolfriends had died since I had last seen them all. Many of my generation never took to social media, so it is only at get togethers that I hear what has happened, as I live quite a distance away. It is still a shock, even if you think that I am getting on in years and should expect the ranks to be thinning out. I think death is very seldom expected, maybe just as well, yet it is a reminder to let people know you love them NOW. To post that letter NOW and to do your best to repair any broken relationships NOW.

I am so sorry you lost a good friend. A young man passing away so unexpectedly is very hard to handle.

MelissaE MegL and GemstonePink - Thank you all for the comments, I really do appreciate it. It's sad and definitely shocking to lose him so suddenly, and so young. We should definitely tell our loved ones how much we care, because tomorrow is never promised. Thank you again.

I am sorry about your lost. Just keep move forward as we can't do nothing to undo the past. Just try to catch up with the people that is still here with you. God bless and may your sadness be filled with joy because whoever believe in Christ go home with him in heaven which is the very happy part because we don't have to worry about him anymore.

That is a sad news to hear. I have my own share of loses last month as well. One of my high school friends passed away and another from my elementary group as well. Both died of cancer. I believe they are all in better place right now.
