Internet Explorer Not Responding
I have a HP Pavilion laptop with the Windows 8.1 operating system. About two weeks ago, I started receiving an error message that read 'Internet Explorer not responding.' Most of the time, the Internet Explorer worked fine. But that error message started popping up more and more often despite my efforts to resolve the problem. Finally, a few days ago, the Internet Explorer would not run.
I had been running the Internet Explorer by clicking on an icon on the Windows desktop task bar. I decided to try to run Internet Explorer from the Start Menu. So I pressed the windows key and viewed the start menu. Then I clicked on Internet Explorer. The Internet Explorer ran without errors when I ran it from the Start Menu, but it would not run from the task bar.
I deleted the Internet Explorer shortcut Icon on the task bar and returned the start menu. I right clicked on the Internet Explorer Icon in the start menu and clicked on 'pin to task bar.' Then I returned to the desktop and clicked on the Internet Explorer icon on the task bar. The Internet Explorer would not run.
At this point, I realized the problem would probably be resolved by cleaning out the Internet Explorer browser history and restarting the laptop. After I finished that task, I used a utility to clean out the Windows Registry. Then I rebooted the laptop. It resolved the problem. I was able to start the Internet Explorer from the task bar.
