A Useful Craft

A number of years ago I started making jewellery, mostly to sell to friends. My daughter had introduced me to the craft and I got ‘hooked’ in more ways than one. It is a cheap hobby requiring three basic inexpensive tools and once the trick of turning pins into hooks is learned there is no end to the number of earrings you can make.

There is however a limit on the number of earrings I can sell or wear so I branched out to necklaces and bracelets. My latest project is fixing broken jewellery for my friends. It is amazing how a favourite necklace or pair of earrings get put aside when all that is needed is new hook or clasp. Even unfashionable jewellery can be taken apart and re-made into something nicer. So I have added a new string to my bow. Forgive the pun.

In China, this kind of store was very popular once. In the store, customers can choose the artificial jewelry to make into the shape they like.
